Morning All. I need some advise/recommendations for a good glass polish. My missus decided to give the oven a good clean at the weekend but used the scouring side of the sponge on the glass door (i advised not to) and now its all hazy with lots of micro-scratches. Would this be easily polished out? If so any recommendations on what i should use would be great.

A scouring pad shouldn't scratch the glass. Likely there is a layer of something else which is now scratched.

I didn't think it would either. Just to add this is the inside of the glass door, and i don't think there is anything else other than glass?

Use jeweller's rouge bar, that should do the trick.

What is it with women - mine used steel wool on the sink taps - needless to say they look a bit crap.

Had it with an ex

Me "that over cleaner says to not get onto door trim"
Her "its fine, nothing will go wrong"

15 minutes later

Inner glass falls out of oven door as seal is destroyed by chemicals

Me "FFS I said about the seal"
Her "oh I didnt think that would happen, I always spray the door with it, never happened before"

All the lettering to the front of our oven has now vanished after someone went at it with a scouring pad and Jiff .

I can't see how the scouring side of a sponge is going to scratch an oven door glass. I use wire wool on the glass when I need to and it's still in perfect condition.

I'd definitely double check if isn't a layer of grease that has built up.

Autoglym Glass Polish

Won't do anything to scratches, it's a cleaner that will remove dirt and isn't abrasive enough to polish out scratches. If it is scratched it needs something like the Ceriglass mentioned above and serious elbow grease / a rotary polisher.

Wife said she feels better now that she know there are wimmin out there like her.

I have told her to NEVER wash the car. Now I struggle she says can I help - NO never.

Some scouring pads are abrasive and will scratch glass quite easily as they have abrasive particles bonded to it.

Best thing I found for cleaning glass oven doors is a razor blade. Spray on some oven degreaser then in 20 mins or so scrape all the gunk off.
