Yeah bit of an odd one.

My desk cant be moved, it is fixed. There is a 20mm gap running along the back for cable management.

Is there anyway I can fit a monitor arm to it without cutting into it? Maybe the C clamp can be pushed in at an angle or something? I think what I'm asking is if anyone can recommend a monitor arm where the clamp can fit through a 20mm gap?

Long shot but you never know

Thanks

My desk has a solid back with no lip or gap at all, so I use a Vesa mount monitor arm clamped to the left hand side, right at the back which has the full access to the tabletop underside to mount to.

It's still nicely adjustable at that position, though not as ideal as central. I too was thinking I'd have to cut the desk at the back, but this has been absolutely fine and way less work and hassle. So if you have sides accessible, you can still use a monitor arm for central viewing.

Though my mount does have a steel top bracket and a bottom bracket about 2.5mm thick, in theory you might be able to place the top bracket in on top of desk, then screw the bottom bracket from under the desk, might be fiddly screwing it on, but with mine you'd just have to screw them in from inner bracket side rather than the outer and it could actually work that way as well.

Edit: for all important decimal point.

Appreciate the detailed response but sadly my desk doesn't have sides either, it's a custom desk built into a cupboard

Thanks

I am not aware of any monitor mount that would be stable enough if it could only fit through a 20mm gap. I think cutting into it would be the only solution, but there are several options that would only require a small circular cut. Check out Duronic.

I've ordered the Lindy one, part of the C clamp can be removed so it slot in from the top, I'll report back later hopefully it will fit

My stand is s lot heftier than that lindy, and mine in theory would still fit a 20mm gap but would need to be assembled under the desk. That lindy looks smaller and you can do the same as the bottom bracket looks to be screw on, so should be fine.

Its in, almost sent it back because the clamp is too long and goes over the cable tidy box but I managed to angle it in and its fine, more desk space and the monitor is slightly further away and higher up so all the things I wanted to achieve are done

Picture? Interested for future possible use!

It is indeed, it's the Pro because it was on sale at the time. One of my best purchases well worth the price it is an awesome peice of kit
I agree. I previously had some cheap and cheerful (and i realise now, bad) "5.1" speedlink medusa headset which came with a amplifier that connected to my 5.1 soundcard and allowed me to have the headset and my 5.1 speakers connected at once and switch outputs at the press of a button. Overclockers used to sell it: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...surround-sound-headset-sl-8796-bg-010-sl.html

I wanted that functionality going forward and better sound. As the headset was falling apart and i didn't want to be plugging in headphones or going into windows sound settings i was looking around and found the GSX 1000 had some good reviews, had great functionality and supported headsets and speakers and it was easy to switch between them. Pricey but worth it for doing what i wanted it to, DAC onboard and amplifier should have been better for the price they sell it for but it is really good looking, sleek, and smooth to operate.
