How far above do your waterblocks go above your card?

So I've got an old Silverstone case, I've removed the front panel and going to create a custom front panel to house a 360mm rad is the plan.

However, the case isn't that high, it'll fit a normal height gpu, but it is quite limited otherwise, I have 22mm worth of play above the pci slot screws to fit a card in.

Is that possible?!

Usually the opposite in that the water block will normally make the card thinner overall for most the part. If you can fit a dual slot card, will usually have no issues with a waterblock swapping out for the cooler. What will change is the width of the card thanks to the inlet / outlet terminal hanging off.
 
No I mean the height of the card, not the width of it, width is fine as its an Matx case.

So need to know the usual height above the pci slot for the inlets for the fittings.

Will depend on the block in question as they all vary in terms of terminal. My EK terminals for example all fit within a normal two slot card, so the terminal is when connecting from the top is roughly inline with the PCB.

just taking a picture here, red box shows the profile of a two slot card and PCie slot. Two orange lines so distance from roughly where the terminal is to the edge of a two slot card. From the top, your pretty much at the two slot card size profile. From underneath the block there is around 2 cm or so. Not sure if it may help what I mean.

EK Terminal block is 25mm tall, so add that to the top of your PCB. Watercool Heatkiller terminal blocks are only 20mm tall. That 5mm made worlds of difference to me.

Also bear in mind the waterblocks themselves match the size of the PCB, so if you have a custom PCB (like a beefy Strix card) it might be taller than reference.

Amazing thank you, will look at the heat killer blocks as the 5mm smaller means it would fit.

There is a single slot horizontal position in the case, but if I modify a 2 slot gpu to go here, I’d be stuck with an sfx psu which I don’t really want to have.
 
Nothing wrong with SFX PSUs, they're seriously mighty. It's surprising how much more space to play you get when you don't have that big ol chunk o PSU to worry about with ATX.

I know but they're a lot more expensive for what you get, however, having one might mean I can squeeze in an extra 240 rad ;)

Not the case any more. My Silverstone ST45SF-G V2 is whisper quiet with its 80mm fan (surprisingly), and the Corsair SF600 Platinum has a zero fan mode like its big brothers.

But yes, they are more expensive because of the engineering involved.
