*** BLACK FRIDAY DEALS FROM PALIT (NVIDIA) ARE HERE ON RTX 2060, 2070 & 2070 SUPER!!!

Big gains and big prices no doubt.
Why does everyone keep saying this. It is this kind of thing that has lead to a self fulfilling prophecy.

All Jensen and co hear is, "Oh yeah? Nice. They don't seem to mind. Let's whack up prices even more!" lol.

They need to keep prices the same or lower it. Not make it higher. Remember the excuse for the price increase for Turing? The R&D for all this RT tech. Well now they have milked everyone and got the money they need to put prices back to sane levels.

Here's where I get confused with new graphics cards. Take those first two 2070Ss listed. How am I supposed to pick between them? Stats are identical, both dual fans. Is it purely an aesthetic choice? Or am I supposed to know which one cools better or is quieter?

Edit: I tell a lie. One has a higher 'boost clock'. I have no idea what that means, but as in all walks of life, bigger number = better, right? :D

Further edit: Or is boost clock only relevant to overclocking, which I don't intend to do?

The Jetstream is only nine quid more.

If I was buying it would be a no-brainer for me to get it.

Looks better IMO, better boost, and possibly a better cooler.

I'm currently asking Palit a question about my current GPU. Now I'm not really expecting them to do much about it - but so far they haven't even responded.

I've chased them once today, and if they still don't, then I think my decision will be made to wait for another make to join the sale.

Basically I agree though. I prefer the Jetstream in look, even if I don't understand the statistics. :)

(I'd love to know what makes a better or worse cooler though, because that seems important to me - but it all goes whizzing over my head when I see people writing about 'blower models' and the like.)

The prices are based on market share. Higher share = higher prices.

For example, Intel's first GPU should be cheaper than both AMD and Nvidia because they're starting from a discrete GPU market share of 0%.

It would be ironic if enough people bought an Nvidia GPU in the black Friday sale that Nvidia's market share increased by just enough so they increased prices of the next gen cards. So any money people thought they saved in the sale got given back to Nvidia when they next upgraded in a few years time.

Generally a blower card is louder than twin/triple fan coolers, and what makes a cooler better can be down to materials used, size and design.

I watched that 2070S Jetstream review the other day and he was really impressed with it.

So a 'blower' card just means it only has one fan?

Yes single fan design and heat is exhausted out the back of the case, sometimes a better solution for those running very small cases, the downside is typically more noise of such designs but with benefit of better case temperatures so cooler CPU etc.

Thought I would make my first post in this section in quite some time just to express my amazement that somebody would think that the concept of 'black friday', the celebration of unfettered consumerism could be made to be any cheaper than it already is.

And even more hilarious is the concept that Black Friday is somehow some kind of sacred tradition thats being besmirched - its a US idea imported by retailers a few years ago too sell stuff - we dont' even do Thanksgiving over here.

Amazement is just the polite way of putting it.

come on its Nvidia, of course prices will increase.

I purchased the Zotac 2080ti from OCUK the other week, for the reasons you have stated. And the noise is solved anyway by my wearing headphones while gaming. :)

Unfettered consumerism ? Most us us around here call that Christmas.

We need a more competitive AMD to get prices to lower unfortunately.

AMD are at the 2070 Super level. With nothing to challenge higher up the scale.

Nvidia have an enormous amount of cash unfortunately. They can double whatever AMD spends on R&D. Nvidia have the upperhand, they know exactly what they're doing and they have the better product. They're able to charge more money for a slightly slower product because they have the mindshare and the fortunate possition of a high end that AMD cant compete with. I've got nothing against Nvidia whatsoever and I wish I invested shares in them 20 years ago.

I'm not from the UK, I'm from that part of the world where it all started, I know its history. It's a tradition thats been going on for roughly 60 years. No-one said its sacred, but its a tradition that gets everyone excited and it was ours until people from the UK decided they wanted a slice of that pie and ruined the **** out of it.

The UK has besmirched it as you put it, pulling it back weeks before it starts has besmirched the hell out of it. Steady rising prices and dropping to normal levels on the day has besmirched it, the fact you belittle the tradition from other countries has besmirched it. The fact I had to read your post besmirched my eyes.

Black Friday lost its appeal years ago. Best year for it was the first year it happened when serious deals were about and before everyone jumped on the band wagon since then its just like the January sales and time to offload stock before Christmas.

What are you going to say when the Cyber Monday deals are out next week ?? ;)

There's still plenty of mugs who are happy to be herded into spending money because they're told to, as its November and for 'reasons'. BF is just another marketing scam that only suckers in rubes.

Gibbo has a captive audience of rubes on this forum that is for sure. He takes them to the cleaners and they call him 'mate' for the priveledge.

Besmirched....who cares. When the consumer can get the hardware they want cheaper.

Now of course not everything is reduced, but certain products are and just as any other 'sale' you have to know what you want and see how much it has dropped on price by.

Myself I want a 2070 super, and I can now get one for £450. Not the brand I want but still the cheapest they have ever been.

So besmirched or belittled, fake holiday, excuse for a sale …...who really cares, products are cheaper.
