Ford Mustang Mach-E

So so ugly the front end is awful if you don’t know what to replace the grill with just put a grill lol.

surely the whole point with electric cars needs to be smaller, lighter more aero dynamic to improve range not just another fat frumpy SUV?

They are generally heavier!

Not sure why you'd take the name of an existing car and create something completely different. Had it been a coupé in the typical mustang way, but electric, sure. But an SUV? Why not just call it something else

They've got previous; there's a Ford Puma too that isn't really a Ford Puma.

What the **** is going on with that nose? Why did someone decide to design a useless grill for an EV, but then just fill it in? Actually, thinking about grills on EVs. How much power could a couple of fans sitting behind a grill that's sculpted to funnel air flow generate?

If they are going to dilute a brand by making a product which is completely different from what the brand stands for they might as well of called it the GT40-E.

but Ford are still going to face the uphill struggle of it being a Ford with a premium price tag.
Ford had no problem with selling a load of there souped up ford focus for around 35k ;)

A lot of people will pick a Ford over an audi/BMW/Merc because the running costs (parts & labour prices) are normally far cheaper.

That's probably why they stuck a Mustang badge on it. They are counting on people being more willing to pay those prices for that thing when it says "Mustang" on it.

Info on the car.

So the 300 mile (RWD)/270 mile (AWD) are using a 100kWh pack that charges at 150kWh and the 230 mile (RWD)/210mile (AWD) uses a 75kWh pack that charges at 115kWh.

Not going to be the most efficient then, but we’ll have to see how well it charges first. They say 47 miles in 10 minutes, but don’t mention if that’s average, the first 10 minutes or something else. We’ll have to wait for the charging curve to really see how it compares.

Shame about the super ugly centre screen. Almost as bad as the Model 3. Just integrate it into the dash!

yes I don't get this trend either .. is it just to put it more easily in reach, in which case the distraction possibility seems increased given the low height too, or does it genuinely reduce build cost with it's modularity, lhd/rhd adaptability.
How big a screen do you genuinely need for infotainment/navigation anyway ?, how are they for reflections/strong-light.

Haptic systems or extensive voice control could be more safety conscious, when they're perfected.

Probably so when it goes wrong you have to fork out £1000s to replace it, instead of slapping in an aftermarket system with a standard din fitting :P

I love this idea you keep repeating that it’s solely for audio function.

Who cares what it's for? It's just a mini computer. It can be any shape and fitting...

They make them a non-standard fitting and stick all the controls on it because they want the return business years later. When users have no other option if they want their media, heating and AC to work. Same reason Apple made their USB ports odd shapes.

The screen is a trick for perception of roominess. EV Lets you move the a pillar forward as there’s less engine to deal with (more so when longitudinal engines).

So if you integrate the screen so you can reach it you end up with a large mass of dash panel which is counter productive to the benefit you were trying to achieve of the impression of space. These floating screens give a route to halfway house of compromise.

Its actually a display device. The computer is elsewhere.
