You rarely see Biostar on review sites.

Any known Backdoor or Maleware issues that (accidentally on purpose) keeps turning up in their Bios and Driver downloads like lenovo?

As you seem to have quite strange/unusual concerns, google and/or a tin foil hat is probably your best bet. Biostar are a well known OEM in generally good standing, they tend to OEM a lot of industrial stuff, retail is more of a sideline. Biostar 2 did have an issue with biometric data being leaked, but this was nothing to do with the motherboard business with a similar name.

Someone on reddit said Biostar has leaked fingerprints, facial recognition data of 28 Million users and has close ties with Lenovo ( part-owned by government body the Chinese Academy of Sciences.) that keeps getting banned for backdoors turning up on their Motherboards Bios so i thought i'd ask on here if anyone had ever heard of problems with Biostar as you know what the Reddit brigade are like.

This is the type of thing that gets posted about Lenovo, Huawei and ZTE

Biostar have been around for ages, since x58 days far as I remember, never heard of any stories, just scaremongering roumers tbh, they are a decent budget board, decent oc'ing boards

So you spent your afternoon reading through my post history and necro’ing random almost 4 year old threads about card security in an industry I worked in? As with a lot of your posts, you seem confused/deluded, if you’d grasped even the most basic part of the incident you mention, Biostar 2 is a biometric access *PRODUCT* of a company called Suprema, BIOSTAR are nothing to do with them, they also happen to be Taiwanese, not Chinese, though like many hardware brands do manufacture in China.

Now you can get back to stalking my post history, if you’ve only made it to 2016, you have a long way to go.

a lot longer than that try back as far as the 486 days :)

Your original post which a moderator can confirm you said Biostar had leaked biometric data and you have dishonestly edited your post to make it look like you said something completely different?

Nice of you to randomly chime in. My original post clearly stated it was ‘nothing to do with the motherboard business’, I edited it to clarify that Biostar 2 is nothing to do with Biostar, if you read it, clearly you’d know that.

Then why not do the honest thing and post in the thread that you was wrong to give the impression that biostar had leaked the data and you was misinformed along with what Ice T obviously came across on reddit instead of these weird random antisocial attacks ???

Just for clarify you do realize this is a discussion forum for people to help each other and Google doesn't show OCUK users opinions on a subject?

Please explain exactly what you believe was dishonest about the edit made? What I posted stated that the biometric leak was nothing to do with the Biostar motherboard business, I edited to clarify that Biostar 2’s biometric leak wasn’t nothing to do with Biostar motherboard business, as you claim to have read the reply pre-edit then surely you’d remember that?

Assuming because someone, somewhere said something and that they linked Biostar to Lenovo and peddled the old line about Lenovo being owned by the Chinese government and therefore Biostar might potentially pushing out hardware with backdoors while providing absolutely nothing to substantiate the view point is at best wild conjecture and really borders on tin foil hat territory. While a lot of knowledgable people frequent OCUK’s forums, what was being asked is likely outside the majority those people’s interests (niche brand, mainly industrial boards to OEM suppliers), I can’t personally recall seeing an example of Biostar being flagged for malware/backdoor exploits and it is something that actually interests me and I do tend to follow. That brings us to google, generally if an OEM has a history of backdoor/malware/security issues, or as has been the case recently is dogged by unsubstantiated rumour with no actual proof other than scaremongering/fake news (Supermicro/Huawai anyone?), then you can find that information a lot more quickly and reference the sources to establish the credibility of the claims using google than the OCUK motherboards sub forum, hence the suggestion. Not exactly sure how any reasonable person could perceive that as a ‘weird random antisocial attacks’, but obviously you found a way :)

As you seem to have a penchant for conspiracy theories, if you like I can leave this post up for a while then edit the spacing without changing the content, you can then accuse me of whatever you like till your hearts content and obviously I must be wrong/attacking you/doing whatever you say I was and it makes perfect sense to you :D

at 10:40am Ice T started this topic for discussion then shortly after before lunch you posted that Biostar had leaked Biometric information

at 1:34pm Ice confirmed this was also what he had read at reddit.

Hours after that you edited your post to change what you said to it being a different company called Biostar 2 to give the impression you had already given us all the correct information earlier on , changing the time line and chronological order of a discussion is not only deeply dishonest it screws it up for people that have not followed the thread from the start as it now gives the impression that the correct information was ignored in later posts.

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/talktalks-latest-issue.18715530/

So if we treat you the same as you treat others you should search Google instead trying to discuss it here as TalkTalk has different parts to their business and we should turn antisocial and call your post about corporate trust strange while we edit posts to make it look like we was correct after misinformation was posted?

One rule for you and different one for us?

Biostar, alongside DFI, have made some of the most reliable motherboards for me in the past.

I see that they are doing modern chipsets with DDR3 support so much for Intel saying that their latest CPU's will only work with DDR4.Interesting but seems pretty pointless now DDR4 is so cheap
