System died, bought new parts today at OC died again

So

Over the weekend my pc crashed when video editing, rebooted and wouldn't output a video signal, or signal to to my elgato stream deck or keyboard (it was dark)

Spec
I7700k
Z270e mobo
64gb DDR4 ram
1080ti
1000w corsair
2x ssd
4x hdd

I took the 1080ti and tested it in another machine without issue, so assumed reh issue to be motherboard and or cpu

So today at OC I got myself a 3800x and x570 gaming motherboard

So the spec now is

Ryzen 3800x
MPG X570 carbon gaming
64gb DDR4 ram
1080ti
1000w corsair
2x ssd
4x hdd


Once rebuilt the pc booted into the old windows installation without any issues at all.

I moved stuff about, rebooted a few times, all. Without incident

I then installed windows from a USB and all went by quickly without incident, I reinstalled windows to the same ssd.

Then on second reboot, I had EXACTLY the same issue.

No signal to the screen, the elgato was blank (it was displaying all the old short cuts once the machine was back up) and nothing on the keyboard

The machine doesn't post to bios

What am I missing here?

how old are the ssd's and hdd's, very unlikely the new components are at fault, see if the pc boots to bios by removing all drives, if it does it looks more like a drive is a fault.

next things to test is the psu and it wouldn't hurt to set ram back to 2133mhz if you can get into the bios just for testing
 
Not a dodgy power supply? although....odd how it worked again, maybe a failing capacitor on the PSU, try leaving the PC off, even unplugging it for a similar amount of time then see if it'll fire up?

I can't think what else it could be, the only other thing I could suggest is pull the RAM out make sure it's thoroughly seated, build the PC out of the case etc, the usual.

The psu has been used for about 18 months.

So I guess that could be the issue?

The pc was off for a good 3 days so I guess that could well be the issue.

The ram i suspect its not as I tried to boot with none before and I rule out the new components as the issue is the same as with the old ones.

So, looks like a psu then?

I have a 1000w corsair currently, how much power do I need for a ryzen 3800x (I'd like to overclock it) 1080ti (not over clocked) and the rest of the spec I have?

theres no guarantee the psu is the problem, only way for you tro rule that out is to test it in another pc, if the boot issue is replecated then you can narrow the psu as the problem but not before.

if you want to go down the route of a new psu, then you'd be safe with a good 750w model, i have a 3900x and a 2080 ti running on a corsair sf 750w unit and it's rock solid, so a 3800x and a 1080ti will be no problem
 
Not sure why you would need 1000w psu
But any way
Is it one of the corsairs with a self test button on it?
And 18 months is nothing at all for a decent psu
My corsair ax860i has been running 12+ hours every day for the last 8 years lol

But does it have the self test button on it?

Though I have to admit even if it does I really don't know how thorough a self test it does
It may just be a very basic yes I am still alive and kicking but not actually test it under any meaningful load level

the pc didn't turn on? or did but didnt boot?, make a note of which drive was used and if able to use another and see what happens.

it almost sounds like a drive issue where loss of power effectivly wipes the drive clean, if it wont boot after unplugging from the wall

Have you enabled XMP and/or manually set your RAM frequency and timings? Sounds like a possible timing issue to me if its all set to AUTO.

you could try your ram, one stick at a time and after each one turn on the pc and see if it boots, if so add another and repeat until the pc stops working or if all ram is installed, i suspect turing off to add more ram may wipe your drive and you'll get no boot again.

one thing you could try the drive you installed windows on, take it out and try it in another pc, if the other pc boots from that drive it's something else going wrong in your new build

just a side note bought my nephew 16gb of 3600mhz ram for a oldish 6600k build and no matter what i did the best speed was 3000mhz any highter and the pc would bsod everytime a game was launched or browsing the web, but his pc would boot into windows no problem
