Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake thread

The first leaks we had of comet lake last year were for q4 2019 launch.

that's why motherboard vendors are ****** , their z490 models have been ready for a while now.

Intel is panicking because they are trying to find a way for the 10900k to not lose in games to the 9900ks and without having to use a custom loop to cool it.


they should just take it in the chin and release it already - Most people who would buy a 10900k won't mind one bit of it can only be cooled with a water loop, they were going to use a loop anyway so they can overclock. The 10900k is not for casual enthusiasts.


The real winners here are PSU manufacturers and companies like EKWB that make loop parts they will see a nice jump in sales

Wrote earlier that the 1000W PSUs would come back in fashion, like the days of the Titan Z and 295X2 :D

There are people with working mining farms still, just yesterday saw one with 16 videocards, the office there uses it for heating, and it pays the electricity plus some 50-70 $ profit monthly depending on the coins price.

BTW, I have one spare 1kW PSU and will use it now with my new Athlon 64 4400+ X2 system, which will be subject to some overclocking.
 
The 10900K is running on 14nm, an ancient manufacturing node Intel first used in 2014. This is the equivalent of AMD still using 7nm CPUs in 2025..

That's why the power draw and heat output is out of control, starting with even the 8700K.

14nm generation which is direct shrink of the 22nm Haswell without changes also.

i7-7700K from i7-2600K is about 40% performance increase (PassMark scores), and this was in a period of 6 years! Ryzen 9 3900X from Ryzen 7 1800X is more than 100% performance increase in just about a period of 2 years!
Before the launch of FX-8150 in October 2011, AMD hadn't been all that bad, as far as I can see Phenom X4 was equal to Core 2 Quad.
 
Before the recent good AMD's CPU's from the AMD64 Atlons/Opterons till then they were about equal to my wet farts.

The ones that came after (cannot remember names but 3000 and 3200 and 3400 etc and possibly around 2007) which promised to be able to upgrade to the next even better CPU using same Mobo were dudes and the latter did not come true and made me jump to the far better Intel C2D (after the not so good P4's).

2600K is not Haswell, 4770K is. And all current Intel CPUs are Haswell based. Both Desktop & HEDT.

doesn't look like x4 was anywhere near a match for INtel

Comparing any AMD Phenom to a Sandybridge 2700k, not really a fair/relevant comparison?
Phenom2 was decent at the time, Intel still had the crown but it was fairly close.

Ah... Userbench, the way when you switch from the 4 core X4 965 to the 6 core X6 1100T the performance chart remains identical. :rolleyes:

Stop using Userbench people. :) They deliberately weigh the MT performance to only 2% of the overall score, they started doing this soon after AMD's high thread count Ryzen CPU's pulled Intel off the top of the performance charts.

Oh and BTW, their Ryzen 3000 CS:GO FPS are only 60% that of my CPU... its utter BS.

If the rumors of delays is really due to consumption, 300W leaked on few sites, EK may partner with Bialetti when dealing the new blocks.
