Project Man Cave / Games Room.

Really liking this. I should start a thread showing mine!

Do it :D it's always good to have a little log. I'm still battling with the storage etc but have been doing a little bit. Hopefully I will have a decent update over the weekend.

Problem is I’d be compelled to finish it. I’m more of a starter than a finisher :-D

Bah make it a slow burn and then you can hit it randomly like I do :) Some days you just cant be bothered but a little bit here and there and eventually you get yourself a room sorted.

Added some storage where the outer bit matches the grey flooring and some more white inside to break up the dark walls and desk, the little table which currently has the rift on was the table I always use for my soldering and stuff which i'm pretty sure is just some cheap pine table so I sanded it and painted it white. I only put the taller storage in tonight so ill move the little table to underneath the desk at the other side as the open space at the other side of the room is currently my room scale play area:

Still plenty to do including some touching up of paintwork above the lego car, still some painting to do on the back wall, deciding what to do with the other half of the room still but slowly its coming together. The picture is pretty terrible but hopefully you get the idea.

I still need a chair, a new door, lighting, some more plants, I mean the list goes on. It's not meant to be some sort of showroom it's a functional place for me to work, play and put stuff. Apparently I have a lot of stuff.

Looks nice but get rid of the pay phone :D

The payphone is connected h323 back to my office. It's sort of required so that I can effectively do my job. I could upgrade it for a sip based DECT solution but they are a pain over ipsec where as the 1608i is relatively easy and only requires one setting to be changed "Direct path" in order to run them basically anywhere if you have the setup correct.

I have actually done quite a few updates since that image. I have a new monitor, stuff has moved and it doesn't any longer look so cluttered. More work to do here for sure :)

Looks a lot better than the dirty nasty pink that was in there before! :D

Changed some bits around, new monitor, still working on the room.

There are even some bits from other overclockers in my little cave the photographs were taken on OCUK car meets by @Phate so had to get them up. All beverages have a place as @Servo did me some custom coasters. happy so far, just a nicer place to be.

do you not worry about someone sneaking up behind you? maybe i'm just paranoid but i'd never position a desk so that a door is right behind me. would be the same with a window. would much prefer to be pointing towards a window, or have it to my side, rather than behind me.

looks great though. once i've got my decorations on the wall will have to share my garage conversion.

Its actually positioned so that i can turn around and talk to the mrs in the lounge quite easily. Never really considered too much where it went tbh just prefer it there than against the back wall.

So you’re not a minimalist then?

Good job ;)

It has to be functional and have a place to store my crap. I do all sorts of soldering and playing around with electronics etc and it is also a place where I need to be able to do a full days work. As long as there isnt a massive mess of stuff everywhere then its all good.

I have my desk in my office with the door behind me, but then I live by myself so it would be weird for someone to be sneaking up on me! :D

Tbh when i go out to the office the wife just leaves me be. If im lucky she will bring me a coffee or juice but thats about it. I'd sus her out straight away if she tried sneaking up on me, although she is small she isnt the sneaky type.

[QUOTE="Vince, post: 33184706, member: 16518"It is indeed 80 deep. Honestly it's made working from home or generally working at the desk so much better. love it! Some more updates to come, I have a new table, storage is coming at the weekend and also I have some chairs and other stuff on the way. Should look good :)[/QUOTE]

Hi Vince,

How are you finding the desk still? Is it good quality and sturdy?

I was thinking of getting this one

https://www.chairoffice.co.uk/kestr...el-desk/95ece6fa-acfe-4768-a70b-f8c833ca23ef/

it seems like the same measurements and thickness as yours but a lot cheaper. It isn’t as nice looking as yours but similar.
