Do you think the Coronavirus is going to drop or increase GPU prices ?

https://www.techpowerup.com/264840/...g-record-lows-in-wake-of-coronavirus-outbreak

A report via DigiTimes paints a bleak image on shipments for motherboards and GPUs. According to the publication, citing sources close to motherboard makers, the initial impact of the outbreak severely affected production - and the entire supply chain ecosystem needed to ferry these across the world. Alongside reduced demand in China (reported to be down 50% YoY and unlikely to pick up until July at the earliest) and other countries, the stage is set for a record low in some of our most favored hardware pieces.

Market observers had expected a seasonal increase in demand entering Q3 2020 which may never come to fruition, as DigiTimes also mentions AMD, Intel and NVIDIA as being unlikely to achieve their target sales for this time period. The reduced demand could see prices come down on components and various hardware pieces, should it linger for longer than the fabrication bottlenecks factories are currently facing. Some publications are pointing towards this drop in demand as a reason for NVIDIA to delay their expected GTC announcements, which the company's CEO, Jensen Huang, has already come out saying "Could wait".

Again, economic illiteracy.

You really don't even have the slightest clue what you're talking about.

People buy these items with disposable income. Hence the graph.

Disposable income has gone up sharply. Not just here, globally - or at least, in the vast majority of developed and developing countries. Hence why you've seen vast expansions in the markets for premium and 'luxury' products in the last 10 years. Across the board, not just in the PC market. That can't happen against a backdrop of stagnant or falling disposable income.
Disposable income has gone up? Who for? The cost of living has been increasing at a higher rate than what minum wage increases have. People borrow money now more than ever to buy things they want.
That graph is absolute nonsense.

GBP down another 3.8% today against the dollar. Looking pretty dire. $1.158. £1 to $1 incoming?

That happened long ago we have a tax called VAT around 1.25-1.30 is parity with USD including VAT and now we’re at 1.15 so easy to see where things are going.

I ordered my Asus strix 2080ti from you guys on Monday (Should be here tomorrow) :)

Good move glad you listened to heads up and trust me prices are going to go up everywhere as those very cards are now an additional £100 to buy in and going into shortage.

If we are going to be locked down for months and months im seriously tempted to buy a 2080Ti.... 3000 cards wont be here this year is certain. Might as well have "the best" if I am stuck inside.

Really??? Good luck shifting cards with increasing prices in a market where 90% of people arent getting paid anymore!

I'm in the camp of waiting for 3xxx cards but did consider for the very briefest of moments a 2080 Ti purchase but if prices increase to absolutely silly prices. My 1080 Ti will have to tick along for longer.

If I had a 1080ti I wouldn't of bought the 2080ti

A 2080ti is almost double the performance of my GTX 1080 and I really needed something faster then my GTX 1080

Crazy how people are buying the 2080ti for same price as on release 18 months ago. Buying it 18 months ago would've made so much more sense! With coronavirus I kinda get it though.

For me it was just timing and luck.

If I had the cash when they launched I'd have probably got one then.

Plus people are distancing, so I guess it's kinda therapeutic.

lol @ paying full price for a 2080ti today. should have bought it in 2018 when it launched!

There's a huge chance everything will be delayed now. Stock, new tech, stock of new tech. Consoles and everything else.

I'd say it's quite likely new GPUs will be delayed. I was hoping for a September/October release but I reckon it will be early next year now. I reckon they'll get the consoles out by year end though.
