Alex Salmond has been arrested

Do the Scottish just flip a coin when deciding to declare someone "not guilty" or "not proven"? I mean under the system of "innocent until proven guilty" they're essentially the same thing.

You can be re-tried on a "not proven" verdict, IIRC.

" … the difference between not proven and not guilty is not guilty is you believe there is evidence to prove that he is not guilty." ... "Not guilty is there is evidence to prove that he did not do what they were accused of. Guilty is there is evidence that tells you. Not proven tells you there is no evidence."

And people wonder why the Scots shouldn't govern themselves.

Anybody following this, it's not looking good so far for him. Not much of a leg to stand on and trying to make out that accusers weren't even at place where crimes apparently happened. Which is blatant lies.

I assume he's looking at prison if found guilty?

... And suddenly it doesn't go as expected ...

Salmond's been cleared of all changes, shock horror, establishment protected.

Thankfully, we have a justice system to protect innocent people from prejudice and mob justice.

Not sure it's all that different in the rest of the UK tbh.

We've seen a load of these BS accusations and "investigations" against celebrities already. Some people will do anything for attention.

It's got to the point where if there isn't solid evidence and they go to prison (like Weinstein), no one cares anymore.

Wow that sucks to be Scottish, so if some bitter ex-partner accuses you of something as revenge chances are the best verdict you could hope for would be "not proven" and people will think you did whatever she accused you of but that the police just cocked up the investigation for the rest of your life.
To a certain degree we’re actually lucky in Scotland as there is a requirement for corroboration, so he said/she said type cases can’t (or at least shouldn’t) get to court. There’s been a campaign though to remove this requirement of a minimum standard of evidence in recent years, apparently cases aren’t getting to court because there’s no evidence, which some people argue is a bad thing seemingly.

What are all these BS accusations against celebrities of which you speak so confidently?
How certain are you of your analysis that they are all BS?
Do you know the accusers or the celebrities?

I have no idea how "attention seeking" you are but I very much doubt that many people would enthusiastically choose to expose themselves to the scrutiny that these women have done.

Bullying of women by men with a sense of entitlement is not that unusual, this often extends to unwanted sexual attention - you may not have observed this - or perhaps you think it is quite acceptable.

To be honest, if this is a real concern for a lot of people, then they've probably made a lot of life choices that impact the rest of it for the worse.
