Live Stream of my Bird Box - Bluetits Nesting - Chicks Hatching Now

We've had cases over the years that the bird managed to lay 5 eggs before we saw any sight :)

Our Blue Tit has finished laying a total of nine eggs so we should have chicks in about 10 days :)

Hope she’s not egg bound

Yeah me too.

That's encouraging then. I've replayed the last two mornings a few times and can't see anything but I guess that doesn't mean they're not burried.

Is yours incubating now then? Is she leaving in search of food or is the male bringing her enough?

Both is happening. She sits and gets fed but often nips out herself :)

Definitely egg laying behaviour again this morning but we didn't get to see it before she covered it up. There's a suspect shape that we think is a third egg but who knows.

In theory we should have four in there by now.

When she comes back about 7 - 7.30pm she sometimes uncovers them.

Hooray! A third egg has arrived.

And then the male popped in to inspect them which was interesting! I've not seen him in quite a while.

If you're in any doubt as to why we nicknamed the female Scruffy - just take a look at him in comparison!

She has popped out again now. Expect her back sometime between 7pm and 7:30 I'd say.

Scruffy for comparison.

Shes made quite a deep well in the middle now. She spent quite a bit of time on it yesterday evening removing material from the center and shaping it so that she fits snuggly in the middle. Assume this is in preparation for when she starts to incubate them.

Egg number four.

She has spent a lot of time in the box this morning which is slightly unusual compared to the last week or so. The male is also loitering in the bushes nearby.

Good a place to post this as any, I have a blackbird that's made a nest in my shed.
She's already raised 1 brood this year, but it looks like she's going for number 2. Is that common?

I believe it's common for 2-3 broods similar schedule to sparrows I think.

Can't decide if yours was drunk or an engineering genius! :D

Oh, there are eggs! Probably why my bluetits are so quiet, I think they lay them over a few days then wait to sit on them all together.

Yeah four eggs and counting.

You are correct. They lay one a day in theory for about a week or so. Tends to be 7-12 eggs in total.

Then when the penultimate egg has been laid they start to sit on them all day to incubate.

Scruffy didn't quite follow the typical schedule of one per day. She laid two eggs and had two days off before laying another two so will be interesting to see where she goes from here.

By the way I knew nothing before I put these cameras up so don't listen to me.
