Had to go into garage for a while and when came back in the Vac was running making a funny noise - Motioned to wife to switch it of then said do you hear that funny noise - Yes she said - why didn't you switch it of and out she came with her family motto "I neva thought".

The bag had come off it's housing and slipped to one side so all the dust was in the bag compartment - good job it has a filter for the motor (Miele)
A good blow out with Henry and new filters on motor and micro filter and new bag and back on line again.
They never learn :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It isn't just women - I tend to be overly sensitive to anything mechanical, etc. not sounding right and amazed how many people continue using something when it is very obviously not sounding right never mind when they laugh at me when it isn't obvious but then sure enough it becomes obvious later :s one of the ones I find annoying/funny is cars as I can often tell from the smallest signs something isn't right even though I might not understand what is wrong and several times people have made fun of me only to end up with expensive, avoidable, bills later but they will still laugh at me the next time :(

I gave my wife my car when she stacked her old one. After a few years she gave me a lift some where and I said 'That doesn't sound right, give our friend mechanic a call and get it looked at'. 3 weeks later, same thing, reminded her to book it in. Muggings ended up being the one to have to take it, but the day i was meant to drive it, the gearbox destroyed itself as I went to pull away (that's what the weird noise was). I had to get towed 30mins to the garage with my foot on the clutch ffs....

Don't judge too harshly.
I take my vehicles to a mechanic friend because when you drive something day in day out, and the noises of it very slowly creep in gradually, you yourself may not notice it... while to someone who only sees the vehicle maybe twice a week, the difference is night and day.

There is truth to that and may be instances I miss but I'm quite sensitive to small changes in my own vehicles as well (I'm sure my dad thinks I'm neurotic but I'm rarely wrong).

Having your wheel bearings go is a prime example of this.

The constant rubbing sound makes you drone it out, to the point that you'll actually not even notice it. When someone else has a look, they'll go on the assumption that you're deaf for not hearing it.

Also different people, different sensitivities, different results.
If we all had perfect hearing, we'd be musicians - I can't discern specific notes, but I can hear a mouse fart at 1,000 yards... and a chocolate bar being opened at 2,000!

Problem is ... logic...or the lack of it with a lot of wimmin.
Like my Ma, she too had a hoover making a funny noise, didnt do a thing about it until i heard it one day and removed the 3 kilometres of what appeared to be boat anchor it had eaten.

When asked why she had not done anything, "ohh i neva thought"
Help ma flipping bob..

I feel downright sorry for the printers in work.

Mechanical sympathy goes out the window :(, this is also why I outsourced the printers to an external company :D
