Intel CPUs are the same. Within the current i9 range they have 9900K, 9900kF, 10920X, 10940X, even though 10th gen isn't out yet.
they are all dumb and should be shot.
Some numbers from MSI's internal binning tests
Shows that only 27% of 10900k can be binned for good overclocking capability (higher than 5.1ghz), so the above 5.4ghz overclock is a golden sample.
35% of 10900k can achieve all core of 5.1ghz and and the rest achieve all core of 5ghz or less with overclocking.
The VRM's get pretty toasty, with the z490 Meg Ace VRM hitting nearly 80c with a 1.35v 5.1ghz 10900k and 347w

Jeez, and there I was thinking the aorus mini would make a nice small rig. You would need a monoblock for most of these boards.Wait what at stock 202 watts. That's like 70 or 80 watts higher then the 3900x hell even 3950x. And it's slower on multicore. This is unacceptable.
It's quite simple for desktop, my 6 year old niece is able to understand that the number increases by 1000 for each generation:
10900k = 10th gen
9900k = 9th gen
8700k = 8th gen
7700k = 7th gen
6700k = 6th gen
5775C = 5th gen (Broadwell, pretty much skipped)
4700k = 4th gen
3700k = 3rd gen
2700k = 2nd gen
i7 980 = 1st gen
A simple google of the name of the CPU also takes you to the intel ARK website, where you can view the exact specifications of the chip, including number of cores/threads, cache, features etc.
AMD is a winner! INTEL are a loser! Will never purchase Intel ever again. AMD are the future now!
These new chips are only good if you have a water loop, AIO will literally just scrape you by in temps.Wait for the game benchmarks the 9900k still rocks! And the 10700/10900 will be even better!
Plus everyone loves an underdog oh and over 5ghz showing on the cpu clocks

Anyone know when the CPUs are due to be listed up for pre-order? In theory the Z490 boards are due out in the middle of next week
20th of this month.
Except the reality is that probably 90% of everyone here, would switch tomorrow if Intel pulled a rabbit out of a hat and leap-frogged AMD to re-take the lead by a similar margin as AMD have today, all else being equal ("Tomorrow" = wheneverAMD is a winner! I'd say they're way worse because these numbers are even more meaningless than AMDs. Except for the APUs (older) and the AF models (newer), if you buy from x generation, you are getting that generation, but with Intel who knows. For example: the 8100/8300, 9100/9300s are actually 7th gen Kaby Lake CPUs, which are themselves just slightly modified Skylake CPUs. The true 8th gen (Coffee lake) are 6-core die (i5 and i7) and the only true 9th gen (including the publicised security fixes) are R0 revision 8-core die (i7 and i9 9700/9900 CPUs). I'm not aware of any guarantee that the newer CPUs use the newer manufacturing process either, which with AMD is certainly not the case.It's quite simple for desktop, my 6 year old niece is able to understand that the number increases by 1000 for each generation:
