When I had my Alfa with red leather interior, I had ballpoint pen ink spill onto the seats. I managed to get it out by rubbing a microfiber cloth over the stain after spraying some IPA solution 1:1. It got the mark out, the leather dry which I treated with some leather conditioner after.

Thanks I’ll give it a try

The G3 tyre gel I got a while back update. It's as mentioned, very thick and harder to apply than a gel like Poorboys Natural Dressing or Chemical Guys Trim Gel but once applied it leaves a very matte finish. I think I prefer the finish left by Poorboys though on the tyre. It's also easier to spread across the sidewall an objectively the matte finish vs the satin finish end up looking similar over time as the satin dulls to a matte finish as weathering wears it down.

Verdict, Poorboys is cheaper, easier to apply and lasts long per application anyway.

Spent some time on the crowns paintwork yesterday and while there are parts where it needs resprayed, rest of it cleaned up alright. Paint is so soft that any tickle and it gets swirls again! But looks good right now, sealed it with soft 99 fusso coat too.

How much would you expect to pay for a full respray from a good bodyshop? I'm not talking about a complete colour change, with everything being stripped out....just the top panels being sanded down and done properly?

Thanks

The only difference between a colour change and a full respray is that you can get away without doing any interior bit (door jams etc).

I would think you're still looking at £1500+ for a full respray.

Not as expensive as I thought

although I would love a colour change, the thought of ripping everything back to the bare shell worries me

Got some time off at the moment so today I finally got around giving the car a proper "detail", as opposed to the quick washes I've made do with for months. Snow foamed (AB Magifoam), washed, polished by hand (ran out of SRP so used Megs Swirl-X), waxed (Collointe 476) and then CG New Look Trim Gel on tyres and all black trim.

And herein lies a major problem with white cars...you spend half a day washing and polishing them, stand back, and they look the same :/

Impressive work. What pad + compound/polish combo did you use?

Evening all, could someone help me with a chrome trim related issue?

Bought a Mercedes B200 which is just coming up on 3 years old. There is a single strip of chrome trim either side running under the windows. The chrome is covered in what looks like water marks or something that will not budge.

When I had my car detailed he suggested that cheap car washes from a previous owner were likely to blame in so much as heavy on the acid. However, the chrome boot step bit is fine.

Any ideas?

you can remove the oxidization with a bit of something like Autosol on a microfibre cloth :)

Conscript, lovely motor, at least you can take comfort that it will return to that nice clean state a bit easier after your efforts.

I had similar, I used Autoglym Metal Polish (you can probably get much cheaper stuff as Muska says) and it made it look like new.

Nice work, that's a fantastic difference.

Thank you :)

Thanks, nothing special to be fair.

Compound was scholl s20 black and I've used 2 pads, at first a medium microfiber pad and then soft black foam pad for finishing. The compound seemed to cut at different rate depending on compound. Most panels were okay with two passes, some needed 3.

Pads were from "Flexipads" had them for a while.

Thank you :)

Maybe it's because I have harder German paint but Scholl S20 didn't remove much of the scratches on further examination. I paired it with the scholl purple pad, but I might give it a go with the more aggressive blue pad, or try their s17.

Thank you :)

did you do it by hand or did you use one of those electric things ?

Hi

Anyone have any tips how I can get my F10 steering wheel back to some kind of black.. I cleaned it with a damp microfibre at the weekend which brought off lots of muck , but now it looks faded...
