What retro things have you done today?

Finally.... FINALLY! I've managed to pick up a Via C3 1.2ghz Ezra-T. I was beginning to loose hope! I can finally now build my Voodoo 3 / 5 ISA Sound card Slowdown Monster!

Dreamblaster X2 Turned up today. Mounted it to a ESS AudioDrive ES1868F card to test later.

Very interested to see how that sounds / works with the card, i have two ES1868Fs now, one for use with the Sound Canvas but might upgrade the other to a dreamblaster (depending on your feedback).

I've been having a play with it and it sounds really good. I've actually connected it to my Main PC via usb and it works as a standalone Midi Device. Plus this is how you upload the soundbanks to it.

I will try and get it on an actual card later and test out some games through Dos. There are a few Banks on the Serdaco Website, and there are some custom ones on vogons also.

Heres a video of what some of the banks sound like. In my opinion Nothing Beats Yamaha when it comes to Descent. I always play that game through SW60XG/DB50XG. But they sound really high quality.

Going to give them all a test. Currently got the BuranV10 loaded. I might get a Chill board and make it an external module. Seems better suited to that application when thinking about it.

I tested the X2 on the ESS card. Have to say... It's a really good combo. Sound great through the card. Nice and quiet. You will have no problems if you go for this combo.

Sounds good, will have to order one at somepoint to try out!

Just won an Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 21", 100% the monitor i wanted for my retro machines!

Hopefully it survives the postal service, but very excited for it to turn up.

The MSI one? I put a offer of £20 in for it. :p Glad i didn't win it lo.. I'm supposed to be selling stuff, not keep on buying things.
Yea. Nearly got the 486 too. It’s a good price for a VLB motherboard and cpu.

I am happy with the price. Probably about what it’s worth. Those CPU are up for £20+ alone.

once I finish building systems I will clear out then :P

Follow up on my fake cache Socket 7 board.

This is without the coast module. Bear in mind there are 2 "cache chips" on the board:

And this is with the coast module fitted:

Spent a lot of today dragging my Pentium 200MMX build out and sorting it. CF2IDE installed with a 4GB card, GoTek installed, and the Labway Yamaha card is in (still awaiting its DreamBlaster). Got an S3 Virge DX in there and hopefully will combine that with a Voodoo 1.

I changed my room and have gone from 150 * 75 desk shared by both my normal PC and retro PCs to 120 *60 each. Just need my new desktop case to arrive now! I'll be having an XP or whatever case inside the table leg too, to capture audio. I'm not sure if I want my sound routed about 15m around the room to my main hi-fi set up (which will mean sound coming from behind me) or just plonk my "pretty good" Creative T40 stereo speakers on this desk too.

Ive got one if you need any reference pics. Alright sounding card but mega noisy
Just got this card set up, not noisy at all when set to line-level output. Speaker output is indeed pretty awful for noise, but with powered speakers, line-level is clean.

2nd Voodoo II turned up after weeks of waiting, just waiting on the SLI cable now.

Long time since i've run 3DFX SLI so really looking forward to it.
