NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

GeForce 256 DDR was the first for me.

Edit: actually, the TNT2 was before that. I had a Voodoo 3 in the middle there at some point.
May have been the MX400 actually, not sure, probably still got it somewhere in the attic.

I bought a cheap Voodoo Banshee before that, that i had i saw in the paper and i think i made the mistake it was an AGP card when i had PCI slots, big D'oh moment.

Haven't tried GTA5 at 4K yet, will give it a spin later on (83GB download now?!). As it's a very old game perhaps that's why it benefits from higher AA, if the base textures are low etc.
I use it as an example but there aren't any games I own where no MSAA doesn't have jaggies/crawlies. Its pretty much a function of screen size and PPI not the age of the game although RDR2 for example looks more acceptable without MSAA than GTA 5. Kingdom Come Deliverance is another example where its a better experience with MSAA. They ALL benefit from higher levels of AA some more than others. I wear glasses and sit about 30 inches from the screen and crawlies annoy the hell out of me. That said RDR2 is far more acceptable without MSAA than GTA5 so there may be some truth in newer games less needing MSAA. It depends a lot on what you're used to. I played Arma 3 with SSAA SLIx16 and that really looks amazing (yes its ancient) but each increment of additional MSAA and SSAA is noticeable even if subtle.

Yep, I'd be pretty annoyed spending a lot on a high end card and still getting lows of 30/40FPS in demanding games tbh.

1440p mostly gives high enough FPS for nice motion smoothness for those spoiled by high hz screens, I'll consider 4K when high end cards can run it better
maybe when Hopper and the other stuff comes, not this upcoming gen but the next :)

For now a 3070 or 3080 should do nicely at 1440p. Hope there's a nice increase in RT performance, really looking forward to seeing videos and new info, same for Zen 3 too

Mate, my 1080 utterly blitzes 1440p. The 3070 and 3080 will decimate both 1440 and 2160p.

If they don't, then they are utter failures.

Look at my sig, of course I have and on a 40" monitor for the last 4+ years and games like GTA5 for example look really good but they look even better with 4X MSAA and better still with 8x MSAA (which I can't run at decent fps with 1080ti SLI). Yes MSAA at 4K is not nearly as important on a 27" monitor (I owned a Samsung 27" 4K) BUT when you get to bigger screen sizes that genuinely immerse you in a game there are jaggies/crawlies that are far more discernible to the point where it genuinely makes it less enjoyable with no MSAA. I've been pretty obsessed with image quality since my Voodoo 2 12MB SLI days and I can't accept 'putting up' with jaggies/crawlies I'd rather not play the game. It's similar to not having a fat girlfriend, call me shallow but I've never had one and I'm simply never going to.

Of course PPI makes a difference, but you should be sitting at a further distance whilst using a 40" display than someone sitting at a 27", therefore it shouldn't be a hugely noticeable difference.

May as well call them failures now then since a 2080Ti can't hold a solid 60fps maxed out 4k in some games, how are the new cards going to do that if the 2080Ti still dips to the 30's/40's in some? And newer demanding games are yet to come

Because you don't set everything in the gfx options of a game to max when using 4k. Most post processes are to make low resolutions look better. And you wouldn't use AA if any. So yes you will cripple a 2080ti if you turn on the potato resolution enhancements for 8.3M pixels,

Probably gonna be a flood of purchases on dialysis machines on eBay for people who sold their second Kidney in preparation for this.

Yea, I am happy to wait until November now as Cyberpunk got delayed:D. That said if they price the RTX 3070 well from day one, I may buy it to play Flight Simulator 2020. If not then will wait.

Was just thinking the same thing myself at the weekend, no hurry. CP is the main game I'm bothered about so probably best to see GPU reviews for that game and then choose the most suitable card. Can still go back to FS2020 then.

I think it's referring to a supernova, the formation of a blackhole where Nvidia want you all to pour your money :D

to me it looks like a big bang, purley down to the fact at the begging of the clip there is noting but a small flash then boom, everything pop's into existance just like the big bang (matter and stars shoot out from the explosion), and we all know that changed everything, looks like next gen cards are hinting at the same perhaps? we all though nvidia had shown a small part of what they could do but this teaser hints at something much bigger, i only hope amd has something on par so pricing is much fairer for everyone

Maybe the big bang is a reference to what will happen to your psu when you plug these in.
