If it benefits the new upcoming GPUs up to 1440p by a good difference, then yes.

From the rumours i have seen they say the chips after with DDR5 will have not as much of an IPC boost as Zen 3, so if that turns out to be true that's even better for those who want to wait for the gen after the first lot of DDR5

I voted yes, simply because in 2-3 years time when Zen 3 prices are coming down, I'll be replacing my 3600 for whatever is the best gaming chip at the time +1 (i.e. one step above that) to ensure more longevity out of my system.

‍I'm still on 7700K so I'm eager to upgrade this generation. I have DDR4 RAM so I won't be buying new ones, it's just a cost-effective motherboard and CPU.

Edit: I'm a complete idiot and misunderstood the question.

Nah because the 4000 series won't arrive until 2022, the 4600 will start off at £335 and won't support XMP

I mean your asking people if they're going to buy a line of chips that hasn't been released with no released details on the desktop architecture

You mean October 2020?

What's wrong with a little speculation and some shyteposting? Isn't that all we're here for?

 You're getting yourself confused between Zen 4 and 4000 series.

Or, you're joking, in which case I don't get it.

I put yes down but i might not or a might wait until they are late in life and in the discount bin.

Yes, I’ll be going to 4000 series, but probably not a launch. I may even get a motherboard with a x6xx chipset depending on the improvements.

Totally dependent on the IPC improvements for me. I'm pretty happy with the 3700x for the time being but I stream using NVENC and record using x264 on OBS so if 4700x (or anything higher) will give a huge performance increase, only then will I change :D

If AMD has the fastest gaming CPU, yes I will drop zen 2 like a stone just to support the huge progress AMD has made over the past few years.

Yes.
With a 3800X, in my present system, which is a very capable cpu in gaming, and my light productivity workloads, I'll ultimately be buying the 4950X (16 Core Flagship.)
But definitely not at release, probably late 2021 or 2022, when AMD has new flagships, and the 4950X will be significantly discounted. :D
