But there's a difference between budget sales and regurgitation of certain genres of games to technological advancements in game engines that push the boundaries. I'd say since 2010 it's still a rinse and repeat. When I was in my final years of school 98/01, I really thought we'd have photo realistic textures/lighting etc by 2010. Progress really hasn't been made
1999-2000 was when you could actually turn on ray-tracing in a software renderer like 3DS Max or Maya 3.0 (the first x86 version) because CPU's could finally do it in reasonable time on a single workstation. Final gathering / global illumination (far more complex calculations) are what we will hopefully see in real time in the future. It's far better to get everything right in camera if you can. I'm impressed that real time ray-tracing is available within 20 years.

Dont waste your breath anymore. If it doesnt sink in the first time dont waste the energy. Im more than happy to buy new products, even pay a tad more for rare materials or extra refinery. I wont be robbed though.
Fair enough; I probably do sound like a broken record at this point. Think I'll check back come the announcements and have a good chuckle then :p

I know mate, I would love to be shocked or proved way off on the pricing for the lower or is it mid-range or is it now upper-mid-range? Bite thon lip I guess and wait for details to materialise.

And yet the PC games market keeps growing.

I'm not saying the prices are great, but the demise of the market is greatly overstated.

It's more likely that as the worldwide gaming audience grows, there is a larger pool of people who can and will pay high prices. But it also likely means that there's also a big pool of people buying that "1660 Super" for about £200, or various Radeons.

Yes I think that is true, what is probably self limiting though is age in that assuming one has access to greater wealth and therefore buying power over time I think its also true the passion for games becomes more focused and not necessarily chasing the new and shiny

Computers says No.

lol, nice

I haven't really noticed any price rises at my end of the market.

I first started PC gaming in 1999 and I paid £99.99 for an Nvidia TNT2 (the ultra version was £149.99).

Adjusting for inflation, that £99.99 - £149.99 price range translates to £174.61 - £261.91 today.

I've stuck within that price range ever since. My Vega 56 cost me £201 last July and I'm very happy with it.

I've noticed the high end get crazy but it hasn't affected me at all.

Same but it depends if you go on buying at a price point or tier level I go on price point most i have paid is 250, my first card was Matrox Mystique.

I know a lot of people didn't like HBCC and seen it as not a feature for gaming but I do need to disagree I have seen in some games that performance increaded using HBCC also games like COD just work better with it on. I also hearing that new Nvidia GPUs will have there own feature of HBCC i do hope with NAVI 2020 that HBCC can make a comeback.
Its a feature that people do not need to use and for them that do good :D

Not even sure if they can make it work without using hbm, wasn't the wide bandwidth of hbm what made it work? High Bandwidth Cache Control via High Bandwidth Memory.

Yes the PC market is absolutely huge now, but not because of Nvidia and their expensive high end GPUs. It's popular because of games like Farnite and Pubic G, which I can absolutely guarantee you would not be running on a 2080Ti. The kids use 580s and so on. Just whatever they need to get it running OK.
