NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Well considering Control on my RTX 2080 with Ray Tracing (at 4K Ultra) can go as low as 10-12fps, a x2 performance jump still means it will be below 30fps and therefore still unplayable...

Maybe this is a fake and its 4X as leaked before,so you can get 40FPS! :p

It's not so much faster it just the GPU has a wider bus and is more designed to moving lots of data which is what the GPU has to do and benefits most from.

CPU on the other hand VRAM is good and bad. It's faster but it also has horrendous latency in comparison to normal system memory. CPU benefits from better latency, gpu from more bandwidth. One reason i guess why the XSX has GPU and CPU optimal memory. Same can also be applied to nvme storage. All designed to do different things like comparing a tank to a ferrari.

Having a faster drive will help somewhat but its still substantially less responsive than memory. nvme works in milliseconds, vram/ram in nanoseconds.

Most PCs are still going to be bottlenecked,as many don't use that fast DDR4 and have slow main drives. The thing is consoles are very flexible, and its easy to shuttle stuff in and out on the fly. For example the PS4 GPU had certain ways of directly addressing the CPU without going over the bus.

It's amazing that people still fall for nonsense like this. But they do!

:D

They did with the first Titan, which was realistically the GTX580 successor at double the price!

Before the consoles. Mind, they only need to release one card to keep RDNA2 on track :D

RX6300XT then?? :P

Dude if ur on a budget why on earth are you even thinking about preordering a 3090? For all we know in a few months time there will be a range of options not least from Nvidia with something like a 3080Ti.

Seriously only do that if time is more precious than money.

Im not sure you understand what i mean when i mention budgets. Without wanting to toot my own trumpet i could buy the 3090 50 times over.... however that would be outside of my planned budget. My income is allocated/invested in different areas each week and i stick to that religiously.. The money from the sale of the monitor was a bonus and it went directly into the " me " money pot that currently happened to be what i wanted to use for a 3090 you know.. to treat myself. The screen broke so the money had to be removed from that pot because taking it from elsewhere would ruin the budgeting....

hope that makes more sense.

It's only a leak atm. More info will come.
If people are interested still in switching RT off then just maybe AMD's options will be better. I doubt they'll be as good at RT so pricing will likely make a good allowance for that.
RT will make huge leaps for a while (next generations of GPU) so we're still early days. People hopefully can save more £ by selecting other options if they don't feel like paying £ for current level of RT performance. Will be interesting to see what AMD bring to market.

Pricing is the key thing. Looking at those stats I'd struggle to see it being £1999 which is what I saw somewhere as a possible price, at least for the FE version. We know the pricing of non-FE GPU's can get a bit 'out there' especially :). That memory won't be cheap tho and 24Gb seems a tad extreme

It's not a leak. That is an official slide by the looks of it. And as usual it will be the absolute best case scenario of something 1% of users have.

I am already disappointed.

I have therefore been waiting 2 years to fully complete my dream upgrade, and it seems I am again going to be left wanting again; either I buy a gimped 3080 or I pay way more money than I want for a 3090. I'm happy to pay up to £800 maybe £900 for what I want (seemingly a 3080 non-gimped), but Nvidia aren't selling it.

Not yet at least... annoying isn't it even at £800 Nvidia is playing games.

12GB of vram would give you more memory bandwidth too but no you can't have it, they are holding it back imho for a 3080Ti

Yeah, I meant not official, it probably is an NV leak to offer a glimpse and judge market reaction. But only a very tiny few examples.
If it is official I would personally buy off of that though :). Nothing to do with "fool and money" :) but I don't think anyone was expecting more than x2 performance in an actual game or benchmark and for years now I've never personally felt disappointed in their products. Pricing is key though. Not sure what the FE 2080 Ti FE current price is but I wouldn't want to see this anywhere near x2 the cost and that would put me off. Same price or cheaper would be great but I think realistically it'll be a bit higher. Also I don't think I need 24 GB so maybe if I am tempted I will look at the 3080 (I only game at 1440P).
If the price is crazy, partly due to the amount of memory, then we can expect a 3080 Ti or something similar at some point later, going back to what NV did in the past when they released a cheaper top end card roughly halfway through the product life

Good news everybody! RTX3080 only uses two PCI-E 3.0 8 pin power connectors:

Im straight up not buying a card in late 2020 with 10gb ram. Im just not doing it sorry. It's an insult.
I'll buy a second hand 2080Ti to do me over until AMD release.

Game, Sim whatever you want to call it

A lot of people will be wanting to buy one of these new GPU's to run it
Exactly, I really don't understand these people trying to call it by a different name like it makes any difference at ALL.
It's the number 1 selling "thing" on steam. so yeah. people care.
