NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I do like the look of the FE cards I must admit. I'd like to see what the third parties are going to bring to the table in exchange for their higher pricing (higher clocks etc) so hopefully we'll get some reviews in the next week or two before the FE cards go live.

I think the main issue will be availability of those. Even the 20 series were quite hard to get around launch time.

But yeah, although apparently I am a complete lemon, Harry the lime and some bitter shandy all rolled into one I do like the FE coolers. Problem for me? it would have to go in the bin (the cooler). If I am ever daft enough to replace my 2080Ti then I would need something on water, as my case really isn't designed for anything on air at all.

Which is why the KP was the best solution for me. The 240 hybrid was sold out and only £180 cheaper any way, I may as well pay up and get a work of art.

I'm currently fishing for a 2080Ti FE or card with a stock PCB. I have a block brand new in the box, can chuck that in my threadripper rig :)

We all know, they will refresh the GPUs next year, with improvements. We also know Samsung 8NM isn't that great,so there is room for this to happen. Then there is the fact if Nvidia can get back on TSMC,their 5NM process node might be like a 1.5X node improvement over Samsung 8NM. So the RTX4000 might be even a bigger improvement.

So in the end,its all down to what you play. If your current system is doing the job, just best to get the most out of it,and maximise the value you get out of what you spend.. If not you piddle money away and still end up essentially getting the same experience. For example in Fallout, the CPU is still the biggest limitation due to AI and drawcalls being loaded onto single threads.I do want a GPU upgrade at some point but honestly,I think the CPU needs improvement first,as my current GPU is CPU limited in some situations. That should help me get more out of my current GPU.

I am more excited about the uplifts to entry level. They have been a reaaaaaaaally long time coming.

It costs a lot more to make them smaller.

Aye, technology and multi layered PCBs. Going against my lemony type nature of being extremely bitter I will say, the design is something to behold. And I really like the cooler too. Oh no, I can feel my acidic bitter levels dropping nooooooooooooo.

But yeah, I do love a bit of engineering :)

Indeed. But you try talking any sense around here. It has just all gone out of the window.

The only way you will lose your money is selling your GPU. And for what? to buy another one LOL. That's a silly game to be playing. I buy what I can when I can, run it into the ground and then usually give it away. That way I lose what I allowed myself to lose.
To me PC gaming is a luxury hobby i very much enjoy so am far from interested in keeping a GPU till it ran into the ground..

What's special about the Asus Strix? It's very expensive even compared to the other Asus 3080s.
Nothing other than you'll pay loads of money for the same technology. Complete with hideous product design which is clearly functional... Even nVidias cards (the best looking products so far are far from functional looking at the design). It's not hard to design a decent GPU for retail...

3080 will be an overpowered card at 1440p. No doubt. The 2080Ti is already, as I have shown. The 3070 will be the 1440p card. Mostly down to the VRAM, as you can see from my screenshots. I am easily surpassing 8gb just at 1440p with RT on.

Put it this way, none of them are 1080p cards. Those will come later, and I would assume much later.
I think 3090 is OP at 1440p but will be a good GPU to have for 144hz and future 4k monitor upgrade. :D

Nvidia have smashed it. Let's make no mistake credit where it's due. I'm a diehard AMD fan boy, it makes me wonder tho, what AMD have that frightens Nvidia. I know someone who bought the 2080ti a week ago for over 1k a minute silence please
