I liked that bit - like he knew he sold everyone a turd last time
Yup, he did indeed and I was a little surprised when he said "To all my 1080 Ti friends, it's now safe to upgrade". I doubt I'd have said that in his place.
So it does, me being blind! Well would mean a new PSU for me if it is the 600W XFX that I have :/Yes, requires a 650W PSU:

Scroll down to specs.
2) Anyone who bought a 2080 Ti at launch and sold it a month or two ago for £1000 is laughing and can feel very satisfied with themselves.
The 3070 is still £150 more than what the 770, 970 and 1070 were priced at on average. That still puts it a whole tier up compares to three other generations.
I think this can be summed up as:
1)Anyone who bought a 2080 Ti (or any expensive Turing card) recently made a TERRIBLE emotional purchasing decision, against all of the advice of the sensible people on forums advising to wait until next-gen was launched. True buyers remorse and completely avoidable.
2) Anyone who bought a 2080 Ti at launch and sold it a month or two ago for £1000 is laughing and can feel very satisfied with themselves.
That's basically the situation.
It’s likely that AMD could match Nvidia at every price point for performance and the majority will pick Nvidia.AMD are gonna have to leak quickly because otherwise lots will simply buy the 30x0 series.
I don't think you can lump all purchases into an "emotional purchasing decision". At the time the 2080Ti was the best card on the market, so it was the best choice for enthusiasts or professionals requiring more grunt from their system. I think the new cards show great promise and think it's excellent that Nvidia have been forced to drop prices. Nothing more or less than that.
I bought a brand new Focus RS a few years ago, I lost £10k in depreciation as I drove it off the forecourt, as did everyone else. I loved every second of owning it and never regretted the decision once, even after pumping more money into it in mods etc. PC enthusiasts are no difference, some are in more fortunate financial situations than others and therefore can afford to buy luxury items. Just because you don't like that (or more likely cannot afford) doesn't mean other people's decisions were wrong. Everyone can judge their own financial siutation and spend their money how they want.
I'll never understand the need of PC gamers to constantly judge each others choices, it's pathetic. Can't we all just be happy that for once the consumers finally might win? For once, the large monopoly-esque hardware companies might be forced to price things competitively? It's a win for everyone, regardless of their current PC specs.

Jensen himself acknowledged the wait was shrewd.![]()
Yup, DLSS is really a game-changer and a genuine reason to go with Nvidia if you want your hardware (especially lower-end hardware) to perform better and last longer. Until AMD come out with something similar then they will lag behind in the performance and technology race. It’s likely that AMD could match Nvidia at every price point for performance and the majority will pick Nvidia.

Spare a thought for whoever bought a second hand 2080Ti for a grand only a month ago!

I don't get why everyone so happy about the pricing still. Is it just because Nvidia so grossly overpriced the 20 series that anything looks good.

Same premise with the 3080 pricing too. People are mad to think it represents overall good value to gamers. If they had dropped prices back in line with those generations I would be getting the reaction because that's where real value and cost to performance would shine.
