Nvidia should do a buyback scheme for 2080ti owners

I don't mind paying a premium if it's worth it, I bought a 1080ti at release because at the time it was a massive increase in performance but I don't think the 2080 ti was a good buy as you were paying mainly for RT which wasn't supported by most games.

Why just 2080 Ti? Thing about Ti folks that is that they seem to think they're special :D
Above comment is tongue in cheek btw in case someone gets triggered.

Feel bad for those buying the Ti recently but I don't think the early adopters did too badly out of it tbh.I know that's debatable but two years of unbeatable performance incl RT, with a decent distance between it and the next GPU down.

Same with the new gen. Anyone thinking about a 3090 should get one early on as will get the most value from that premium and likely to be at the top or very close for around 2 years.

The 2080 was going for £700+ not that long ago, so it's not just 2080Ti owners, all 20 series owners are getting burnt here, whether they bought them recently or not.

Lol someone feeling a little bitter paying nvidia’s inflated pricing now a much better card is half the price? You bought it so now it’s nvidias fault? Jog on mate.

"Why are all new GPU releases such incremental upgrades, where is the innovation!?!! "

"Hey you've made big leaps in performance and made your cards too fast thats not fair giz me moneyz bak "

As a 2080Ti owner, I can't really sympathise and you should look at your gaming time and justify it that way. I will give mine away to my nephew when the 3080Ti is out and I feel no remorse.

Have to of been mental to shell out over 1k for the performance upgrade from a 1080TI anyway.
This forum was full of people advising against people buying the first gen RTX cards alone.

2080ti is still a powerhouse card it didn't just automatically die overnight.
Yes there is better out there for much much cheaper but the 2000 series were always mocked for being crazy overpriced. It was kind of a fools game right from the get go tbh.

There was always a risk nvidia were going to drop to more reasonable pricing if they could fabricate cheaper especially because they have to now compete with consoles.

Well, I think I paid £749 for a 2080 on release. That was two years ago. For months I did loads of gaming & for 2 years enjoyed checking our the new RT abilities.
Can't please everyone. NV make a big jump in performance without bumping the price like many expected and it then dissatisfies some buyers of last gen. This is just tech. However, while my £749 GPU is worth a packet of crisps now, half eaten :), the way I see it is the next GPu will be a nice leap forward and if only going for the more mid-range of the gen, better value for money.
A discount for previous customers would be great but not something I trhink NV would or should do. That scheme would likely have to be paid for somehow, by of course the end customer.

NV's cycle is around 2 years so buyers should be warry of when they buy. Chances are, the closer you get to 2 years period, the more likely a new generation of GPU is going to be released that's better, and cheaper.

It makes no sense. What on earth would Nvidia do with thousands and thousands of bought back used 2080Tis?

They didn't exactly make it a secret that new cards were coming out this month and the performance would be a big upgrade.

I know what I'm gonna do, I'm not gonna sell my 2080ti because even if I got 500 I'd spend 200 on a card to get me by, so not worth it

I'm gonna get the 3090 because it's the next step up, I don't think the 3080 will have a significant improvement over the 2080ti

Jensen Huang nvidia founder: 3090 is a ferocious beast, a BFGPU

£1250 for a 2080ti and spending £1500 on the 3090 is a acceptable upgrade.

But if nvidia did do a buyback then that would be awesome and I bet everyone will take advantage of that.

Fair shout and the 3080 is a massive upgrade over the 2080Ti by all accounts, so even that is worth a look!
