Virgin Media Discussion Thread

So I have 1gig getting installed saturday (well I doing that myself with the self install kit) BUT also when I signed up to ultimate oomph I should have had a 2nd tivo box (which I never got) so got a installer coming saturday to fix that too and price only going up by a tenner a month. I think I quite happy with all of that

New STBs incoming - trial is open for a short time - https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...preps-next-gen-tv-360-service-for-launch.html

The v6 box was an improvement over the previous dire boxes but using my fathers one its still not the most responsive thing so really hope they finally sort that (whether its a software thing or a hardware thing - guessing the latter).

What is this 360 thing meant to be? And regarding your box noticed at the times is a bit laggy (despite changing batteries) does take a age to change channels sometimes

Managed to get the Oomph package @ £86 for 18 months. Happy with that as the deal was running out next month.
Suprisingly little haggling, they started out at £99 a month and I mentioned the £86 deal, they went off to "talk to a manager" and put it through.

If you're on the Ooomph you should be getting two boxes, not sure why you're getting charged £10 more?

Or is it going up £10 to get 1Gig, maybe I've misread?

Ah yeah my price per month is only going up by a tenner and as I said I never had another tivo box (I am on the current 500MB ultimate oomph) never got another tivo box though so I be getting another one installed

I have the 200mb package great speeds 220mb I bought my own router found the super hub would need restarting every few days think it cant cope with too many wifi devices but sorted using own router and having virgin hub modem only mode but noticed every day or 2 it will trottle to like 80mb but once I restart the internet hub it goes back to full 220mb everytime, I remember in the past they had some sort of speed capping if used too much bandwidth and go back to normal speed after theh had peak and off peak times ? but I cant find any information about it ? its like its done to save bandwidth If I didnt do speedtest or look at the download speed I wouldnt notice if just streaming/gaming and browsing the internet

Is there any deals that Virgin Media do where its just TV and Internet? Ideally I just want the most basic TV package and 200mb internet with no landline but the prices seem too high if you're not a new customer.

Currently paying 46 a month thats due to go upto 68 soon for tv, 200mb and landline. Just wondering if there are any deals where I could potentially get faster internet for a cheaper price

You need to call retentions.

Price up what you want as if you were a new customer and then speak to them.

I have been customer ever since cable was called telewest, I was paying £41.74 for Broadband only 200mb and it was due to go up again by £2 so it made me look for alternatives and looked up moneysupermarket and uswitch and for new customers it was £26 which I didnt think was fair , was prepered to move to Vodafone broadband 63mb for £24, So called about it and also said would consider moving to 50 or 100 if price was good, and i was given £27.74 for 200MB for 18 months I got loyalty discount once 18 months is up and it will return to £41.74 so dont know what I will do , Full fibre is meant to be in my area hopefully by that time and hopefully offering good prices so can try to get another good deal with virgin

just now looking at Virgin site 100mb is £44 with £38 setup and on moneysupermarket its £24 with no setup cost for new customers

Oh wow thats really good. So you're saying that I can get a better deal as an existing customer on virgin just by looking on moneysupermarket?

More cables being laid here today. There is a "C-Plan" van there.

Is outsourcing something Virgin would do for work like this or is this other providers laying cables?

No they'll say thats for new customers I even said what if i cancelled and did it and was told it wouldnt work but its not really the point being long term customer and having to pay more when new customers get it for less doesnt seem fair so pretty sure you will get some deal , but i see you wanting TV with Broadband I dont see any offers I only went with broadband only which has good deals on compare sites

Yes they've always outsourced that side but no idea if that company is one they use.

Services got cut off at my current property today as they'd not extended the date after I'd moved my moving date back, spoke to someone in Scotland who had to push a urgent reconnect ticket through but it'll take 48-72 hours to come back on.

Someone had no idea what they were doing, you can disconnect/reconnect TV/BBI in a little over 12 seconds... it used to take NAGRA longer to send the hit than the operator to key the order most days. Phone is slightly different.
