NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

ngl, they are a nightmare. Problem is graphics cards are quite a niche product and Facebook selling groups just arent reliable at the best of times, let alone for a £300 ish graphics card
What's the issue with eBay? I've sold a bunch of PC components over the years and fortunately haven't had any problems so far!

What I was referencing (but based on my own testing with a Vega):

Sneaky. So there are people looking at that and seeing up to 70% gain of the 3080 over the 2080 and then going the 3080 must be up to 50% faster than the 2080ti when if you look at the over figures, at 4k with those settings the 2080ti is 59% faster than the 2080 anyway so the reality is the 3080 is only going to be up to 10% faster than the 2080ti in that game.

Still a good result for anybody looking to upgrade from the previous generation and 2080 and below cards but not the massive upgrade for 2080ti users as they may think./

No, the upgrade in Doom Eternal for 3080 vs 2080 Ti is legit 50% territory - they released real numbers in the video. But probably an outlier.

Yes and no. If any api is capable of squeezing every last drop of power from the 3080 it's Vulkan!

I wouldn't say that. It's not down to the API as much as it is to the devs & the targets set. But in the case of 3080 & DoomE I'm guessing it's particularly good for the new architecture setup. I don't really know though, I'm just guessing.

Saw some new numbers shared by Nvidia:

See my comment above.

It'll be fine most of the time but, if you get a scammer who claims your item turned up damaged or non-functional or whatever, they'll raise a dispute and the bay will instantly side with them and not even listen to your side of the story. They'll even take the money back from you via Paypal and leave you without the money or the product.

This is particularly dangerous with graphics cards right now because buyers may suddenly realise they've paid over the odds and find a reason to return the card, even deliberately breaking it.

It's just not worth the risk.

Thats a good point!

Something doesnt stack up then,. As a 2080ti is 59% faster than a 3080 in Doom Eternal at 4k nightmare and if a 3080 is 50% faster than 2080ti then a 3080 would be 138% faster than a 2080. Which it isnt AFAIK.

This is why we need proper reviews!

* the buyer has to return the product... EBay / PayPal will not refund until the item is returned... But the buyer could still return a box of rocks.... But I have sold lots of items on eBay over the years, I have suffered with a few buyers, who had buyers remorse... But that can definitely happen... Overall eBay is a safe place to sell, plus you could make your listing collection only, cash on collection... Anyway eBay have a max seller fee offer on for most accounts at the moment, regardless of the selling price, max fee £1, the offer ends at midnight on Monday.

I wouldn't pay much more than £300 for a used 2080ti currently. Maybe £350 at a push. And seeing as nobody will likely sell one for that, I'll be buying a brand new 3070 at launch.

They're probably worth around £400-£500 right now but yes, if and when the full reviews are out and confirm the 3070 is the same speed or faster, then they'll drop right back to around £300 as simply not worth any more than that for a used card, potentially without warranty.

My 1080Ti of course will be worth about £3.75 at that point :)
