AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

My personal prediction is amd will price aggressively but they don’t match the performance of the 3080.

likely will be stacked with a decent wedge of vram to compensate

Wrong but believe what you want

Its all pointing for top navi to be slightly ahead of 3070 RTX, then 3070ti comes out and finishes it off.

navi wont be touching 3080...sadly

Read the above message. :)

I be buying upcoming Ryzen 4 and Big Dog Navi and enjoy gaming in a whole new way.
Looks great for AMD with gaming

I know but who bought a Vega when it had HBM? There is no prizing away from the mindshare, and the single digit enthusiasts on forums that understand this wont bring much adoption. Vega only got traction when the prices dropped lower. Even if AMD get HBM on the high end stack there will be many users who still buy nvidia yannow just because "its works" and the marketing brainwashing - just look at the hype in the last few days.

I did. :) Well, and all the miners of course.

But the superior bandwidth enabled by HBM, as well as HBCC, were key factors to me going Vega 64 over 1080, amongst a few other reasons why the AMD card was superior to the Nvidia equivalent, at least in my case. That's why I'm so ****** right now with RTG - I could name a whole bunch of ways in which V64 was superior to the 1080, or all sorts of benefits of having an AMD GPU over an NV one.

Today? I really can't think of a single reason.

Btw has anyone done an ‘how they aged’ video of Nvidia vs amd for last gen?
I feel like my 2080 got stronger and stronger this generation. Not sure if amd fine wine is still holding enough water .
The performance gap has shrunk over time. I'm sure I saw a recent video from (I think) Hardware Unboxed where the gap between the 2080Ti and 5700XT was lower now than at the time of their original review when running up to date drivers. Still got dominated but had pulled about 7% back if I recall.

It does raise the question as to why Nvidia held back the opportunity to order these cards.

This doesn't seem to benefit Nvidia in anyway unless they plan on changing something before launch?

I wonder if Nvidia made their move hoping to force AMD to panic and start leaking stuff. Then they can respond just before launch.

It wouldn't surprise me. Love them or hate them Nvidia are very, very good at marketing. AMD are getting smarter, I think they've finally realised they were lacking in that department.

Dunno, a blower fan is generally a setup that works for every setup. There was an interview with Scott Herkelman who talked about them being close to not using a blower at one point before the 5700 launched. It was down to consistent performance and the case not playing as big a factor as it would with axial fans.

45 minute mark.

Thank's, That makes sense but Nvidia have more trust in people cooling their systems properly. Its kinda fair enough, if you want axial cooler wait for partners, but it looks bad in initial reviews and this is why Nvidia don't do Blowers any more, its all about first impressions.

On overclocking, you can't, or i can't get the volts above 1.2v (Which is what it comes with out of the box) which is too high, i can set 80mv less than that, get lower temps and higher boost clocks just from doing that.

You can overclock the 5700XT, in fact i have, I have under volted and overclocked but what you can also do is leave the volts and set higher Mhz and higher power target, i have seen people get over 2.2Ghz doing that.

I run mine 1120mv target 2100Mhz, it boosts to 2075Mhz which is 150Mhz higher than out of the box, its given me about 5%.

I dunno.

You've got Coreteks saying partners are saying they've been told by AMD, that they are only going to compete with the 3070, and 'Ladies and gentlemen, my names Paul, and in this Redgamingtech video..... saying, the 6800/6900 are going to compete with the 80/90.

:p

Other are being told to expect competition with the 3080, some even the 3090.

You know what AMD are doing? they are trying to figure out whose leaking, they are telling different people different things, a lot of TechTubers who claim to have people on the inside say they are being told different things by different trusted insiders.

The XBox Series X competes with the 3070, Coreteks need to step back and think about that for a minute.

Bolocks. You don't have throw some opinion-based fact around dude!! HP??

Its all opinion, as is the 3070, i don't even think the 3070 is as fast as the 2080TI.

As for the Series X, it has 30% more shaders than the 5700XT at the same clock speed, just doing the maths assuming its RDNA1, the same as the 5700XT shaders its easy to see how fast it is, that's still speculation, if we are to be held to our speculations or caveat everything we say with a disclaimer in here the thread might as well be locked because it would be useless.
