So drivers are supposed to realise that a light says an 'X' and not 'SC' sitting on the outside of a 5g right corner, pretty poor tbh, although the guys in the garage should have been on the ball which they clearly were not.

It would make more sense being something that race control sends to all the cars automatically.

I don't why the commentators are going on and on about the red crosses. Almost every other team managed not to come.
Everyone else had a few more seconds to cotton on to the closure notice but that's ultimately part of racing as a team, they should have been alert to the potential when a car stops that close to the pits.

This is what sky are trying to show. Hamilton should have had the call from his engineers not have to see that whilst at 180mph at 5G!

Hell, how many of us have accidently gone through a red light?

If Norris gets a penalty, it'll likely be covered under these regs.

39.5 No car may be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person at any time whilst the safety car is deployed. This will apply whether any such car is being driven on the track, the pit entry or the pit lane.

39.7 All competing cars must reduce speed and form up in line behind the safety car no more than ten car lengths apart. In order to ensure that drivers reduce speed sufficiently, from the time at which all teams have been sent the “SAFETY CAR DEPLOYED” message via the official messaging system until the time that each car crosses the first safety car line for the second time, drivers must stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU at least once in each marshalling sector and at both the first and second safety car lines (a marshalling sector is defined as the section of track between each of the FIA light panels).

The stewards may impose either of the penalties under Article 38.3a), b), c) or d) on any driver who fails to stay above the minimum time as required by the above.

Considering Ferrari's pace vs Alfa Romeo, it kind of does confirm that Ferrari designed their car with the expectation of having a rocket of an engine, and probably threw on a load of draggy aero, which can't easily be changed.

Does Stroll have to make a mandartoy pitstop or does he get free tyres and can go to the finish?

Lewis has eyes in his head.
As already discussed a light that says an 'X' and not 'SC' sitting on the outside of a 5g right corner is hardly easy to realise the difference is it? but i guess your ultra eyes and ultimate perception would have been able to tell.
