People selling clocked cars - busted! Update 2.

I doubt people are doing it to avoid paying for servicing etc, that doesn't make sense to me. It will be because of lease/finance agreements, or re-sale value on owned cars.

Cheapskates are gonna cheapskate though - I very much doubt the market of people looking for ways to get cheap 5,000 mile per annum PCP/lease deals fraudulently when they're really doing 25,000 miles, is full of service conscious people going out of their way to make sure the oil changes are still done on time.

They'll dump it back with the lease company and move on, not a care in the world.

It’s all part of the package isn’t it..no one is going to perform an invisible service, which will never pay back, on a new car which is only going to be handed back inside warranty anyway...

I guess most wouldn't. If I were a dishonest person pulling a fast one on the finance company I'd still service it though, but then I have some mechanical sympathy. :p

You think that way because presumably you are a relatively honest person. If you were a dishonest person pulling a fast one on a lease/finance company, then I doubt you would :p

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of buying a car and owning it, and being dishonest with the mileage blocker so that I don't de-value it with lots of miles, but still wanting to keep it running sweetly because its mine.

If it were a 3 year lease and hand back type thing, you're right.
