Why are people so shocked. AMD have been a year behind Nvidia in releasing cards which can only compete with nvidia's third tier gpu. Now they are a month behind and can possibly compete at the high end. There is no keeping people happy these days.

All they want is cheaper NV cards, most wouldn't buy AMD in a million years...

The angst comes from the waiting game, people are in 2 minds to snap up a 3080 before the mining ********* get them all, or wait for navi which for all we know could be better at mining and also be a target for the mining *********, repeating the bs of a few years ago. Had they been releasing all the info on the 8th not as much drama. They're bound to say something about it on the 8th but in all likelihood it'll be wait til the 28th then more waiting on the release which will drag into November.

That's not even close to as good as Nvidia were making out. Nvidia 2080 vs 3080 +80%, reality +50%, vs 2080TI +30%

I don't think anyone would be shocked at Nvidia cherrypicking the best examples.

That said, no doubt still some improvements from drivers to be had and that's a small selection of games.

I would expect maybe somewhere between the two - maybe 60ish% faster than 2080 on average at 4k with final drivers and a wide range of games? Still not awful for a card that costs the same as the 1080Ti did and less than the 2080 but certainly an attainable target for AMD.

I know it's annoyed probably A LOT of people

But look at it from AMD's point of view, they have successfully done just enough to set the internet alight again and make a substantial amount of people ready to buy Ampere go "ooooh they are doing something, it's a lot of money.....do I wait?"

That's all they want at the moment, the oppositons hand is on the table and the smallest amount of doubt has been cast towards it.

Interesting to see where this goes now! I will put the kettle on :D

Poor again from AMD. October 28th...lol

We'll be lucky to get Big Navi this year then by the looks of it. Always late, always second best...

If you want to play on an RDNA 2 this year, get a console pretty much is the message from AMD
Well if You buying Console You are buying AMD so thats a Win form them :)

But there's zero info about RDNA2 cards. How many are being released etc. They may not be releasing a direct competitor for the Nvidia card the person contemplating purchasing so could end up waiting for nothing.

It's no win for them. Consoles margins are so tight they are making pennies on these things.

I guess AMD enjoy having <20% of GPU market share on PC. They must be happy with this, since they are putting no effort in addressing this.
