NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I'm guessing that when the dust settles the 3080 will end up about 60% faster than a 1080ti which isn't a great increase for the same price after 4 years.

In the reviews though it will be compared to the 2080ti and even if it's only 25% faster it will be lauded due to the price of $699 which was the normal price for these cards before the outlying 2080ti but now it looks like we're getting an amazing price cut when it reality it's just a return to the norm.

For me it should be compared with the 2080. The pricing has messed things up a fair chunk and the 3090 should be compared with the 2080Ti, as they are the top cards. If you are coming from a 2080, I imagine the performance is a decent upgrade but I suggest waiting for reviewers numbers!

Return to the norm most definitely, But with a sale of a 1080 ti which brings in 300 pounds leaves in upgrade path of 400 pounds which is mostly palatable. It’s a good time to go out on a high. I miss my 1080ti already. Rocking a potato card.
 
the issue is nvidia is hedging its bets a bit, i honestly think it pushed ampere out early to jump amd being in a position to get navi out. also the whole super range last generation is probably going to happen again this gen, while which is good for nvidia in it has slightly faster cards but crap for buyers as if you buy a 3080 now give it 6 months and oh look you get a high clocked and probably higher memory card which is a kick in the pants for people who bought early. the more and more this unfolds im honestly looking at buying in the new year now, i was very tempted to grab a founders cards at launch but now seems it could be a bit of a mess from both nvidia and amd.

why rush anyway?

these cards are not yeezy shoes that adidas/kanye only make like 50 pairs and thats it, never to be released again. these are gpu's that will me made and sold throughout the next 2 years

Fair points and I agree 100%. NVidia do tend to release cards and then a couple of months later, release other cards that kinda leaves a sour taste in buyers mouths. Great products but wallet hurting company lol

not really rushing buy at launch if you can.

but yeah i get you're point, the issue is we know there will be limited stock for the most of this year as many people didnt touch the 2000 series and are on 1000's im on a 1070 and have the cash for a upgrade and im sure many others are in the same boat.
 
I'm still rocking a GTX1080 and playing games at 1440p, so my question is, if I go Nvidia what 3000 series card is going to best for me at that resolution? I'm assuming the 3070 would be ideal?

Let me guess, they've had feedback from reviews as per the NDA before publication and they don't like the numbers, and they may want some data excluded.

If I was sitting on a 1080ti I would definetly wait for a 3080ti.

Agreed it was the last card to bring the biggest performance to the table at not a shockingly high price, I mean £800 was expensive for the amp extreme but there was cheaper so the way I see it the best thing to do is wait for me at least.

Obviously people coming from a 1080 and lower will see it as a bargain considering the stupid pricing of the 2080ti and it's this what all the hype is about, nothing to do with performance, they see it as performance because it will be over double the performance of a 1080 just not a 1080ti, I don't believe it after seeing results.

Not sure if I've read your post wrong there but did you mean double the cuda cores? If so I think people have misunderstood this too, They've put double the cuda cores but they are not seen as double physical cores just they can do 2 instructions now between the 2 if I'm not mistaken, this is also misleading from Nvidia but this is what happens when your dominant in the market, If they are not careful they will end up like Apple and if that happens then, well could be a nightmare for the PC as a whole unless AMD surprises everyone, The PC needs competition between hardware manufactures the consoles don't.

Probably true. It’s just I’ve been on mfs 2020 and the frame rates were a bit meh. First time I ever saw my 1080 ti look a bit slow. Sure you don’t need 60fps plus. Time will tell my line has cast now. I personally like having the ti “badge”.

Exactly, yet someone who disagreed with a binning process video I posted yesterday thinks that's ********* too, in the video he mentioned wait for end user reviews not YouTubers, YouTubers get the card early for a reason too, sucking Nvidias ass.

ok, show the proof youtubers get binned gpu's. as i said the other day when you posted this it has been disproved a few times by some youtubers buying gpu models and getting withing margin of error results of other users. or are you claiming they are all in it together now ?
