NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

there are confirmed 400-500W TDP AIB boards coming out for 3080?! any links please

Sadly not confirmed, it will all depend on the bios and Nvidia. With the 2080ti we had boards which could do 400w+. With the 3080 with three 8 pin power connectors, in theory the maximum they can take is 500W. Whether the bios lets you or not we will have to wait and see.

Well I have never successfully undervolted/overclocked the 2080ti or the Titan Xp before. They both like/need more juice to get max overclock.

AMD seem the masters of that.

Running my 2080Ti @ 96% power using the same OC on GPU & RAM as I was previously using at 120%.

Less heat but equal boost clocks. Bit weird but it’s been working for me. Tops out at <260W too.

Good result. My cards definitely needed more power to hit their best overclocks - both boost to 2100Mhz.

Yeah, mine was taking 350W to get a worthwhile boost beyond what I was getting.

Can’t be bothered with that on air!

whonsaid that??

the highest power limit I've seen so far for an AIB 3080 is 370w

Nobody yet,. I said the AIB boards could in theory handle 525W. Like you so far the highest bios I have seen is 370W. That doesnt mean to say that higher limits wont come.

Otherwise what is the point of putting three 8 pin power connectors on a board? Each 8 pin can supply 150W and the pci slot supplies 75W.

Two 8 pin power connectors on a card means the card can handle 375W max. If AIB's werent intending to go past 375W in the bios then they wouldnt be putting a third 8 pin connector on the cards as it would be a waste of time and money

My 1080ti FTW3 would overclock next to nothing even when water cooled and below 45c so even lower temps would not increase performance.
Sold it for almost £500 few weeks ago which is more than I paid for it over a year ago.
I do feel sorry for the person who bought it tho.
Im fligging titan with block for 300 but thats wirk plus gaming card my mate that works as 3d designer will have it probobly for work. And yes 2150mhz is limit on the titan i got

Thats why im considering Inno3d had fantastic overclocking experience with theirs gpus :)

Sounds like the 3080 FE is the only way to go

I output to a projector and another to the TV so sadly the FE isn't going to be great for me. Ideally would like 2x HDMI 2.1 ports which only a few AIBs are providing.

Display port connectors and display port to HDMI cables I've found to be very very unreliable and unregulated in the guaranteed performance they provide.

Saved! Doesn't look too hot, eh?
