Speaking of MLID, go check out his video about Uncle Jensen's ultimate customer fleecing action plan (can't link at work). Or if you don't want to listen then hit up mooreslawisdead.com and read the article instead.

Whether it's true or not remains to be seen, but it does sound like a very Nvidia thing to do.

Very interesting article and another reason I will be sticking with AMD for GPU's, I just don't trust Nvidia and know the pricing is a power move to attempt to prevent AMD gaining market share. I have other reasons to not use them such as issues with my Hp Omen monitor etc but this cements it for me. Really was toying with a 3080 but it will be Navi instead.

Selling the 3080 with an MSRP of $699 in limited quantities but leaving AIB's with no margins forcing them to jack the price up over $699.

That way Nvidia gets to say they are $699 and blame AIB's when the cheapest ones are $50 more than that, by selling the chips to AIB's at high price Nvidia also get to keep their high margins.

Nvidia always wins.

Disgraceful. If people dont like them shenanigans in business (like todays cancel culture) it should be something they apply to their purchasing decisions.

First time in a very long time I'd have said they had a fair price for the mid tier product. Wouldn't surprise me if it was all smoke and mirrors.

Keep saying it but AMD are going for price to performance. I reckon everyone but the very high end will get a decent affordable upgrade.

If you have the best performance at 75% of the price points the majority will buy it. The high end users on this forum aren't even a consideration. If AMD can double or triple their market share at midrange and below that would be huge.

I'm looking forward to seeing what AMD have to offer.
I've subscribed to the nVidia thread also and it seems not as huge performance gains as first thought. May stick with AMD as my Vega 56 has been great and I don't need the bleeding edge. Just a nice FPS increase would be ideal for me.

Yeah the hype over "2x as fast" (or up to) seems to have been neutered quite a bit to say the least, just have to wait on reviews to see their take on it.

Shocker as nvidia slides were misleading :p

Both companies are guilty of this. And yep, I bought into the hype and was impressed with the Nvidia announcement. Am hype for AMD though. Its a damn exciting time in the tech world.

The performance in Doom in the DF video indicated around what NVIDIA were saying, but it's obviously going to vary on a game by game basis. That was probably best case scenario.

AMD have the best price to performance every generation but that's not what people want.

80% of the market want an Nvidia card. The other 20% want the best price to performance.

Of course :) - they're only going to show best case. Never anything else :)

Always best to wait for a collective of independant benchmarkers and go from there.
