I'm sure I read something that one of them would be within spitting distance of the 3080. Only thing is I can't remember if I read it here or on Reddit.

Some probably goes over their head. But the 2060 and soon to be 3060 may have the features of the high end but realistically your paying a lot more for essentially what a way cheaper card can do if your at those resolutions. You are only kidding yourself if you think this tier can do the raytracing and grunt work needed on better display res'. Many have rolled with it as 'ahh it can do raytracing too'.
I thought the lower number was the 'big' navi (i.e. 21).
It was from the "Moores Law is Dead" channel on YouTube. Then tweaktown I think made an article and quoted the guy.
AMD are the ones to watch out for. As much as NVIDIA might have the crown for money and AI..
AMD have a couple of very strong cards to play.. their processors - if they can improve or provide some exclusive integration of their processors with their GPUs for more performance which is validated, then people will move because 99% of people prefer AMD to Intel at this point. I remember reading about this years ago but it never translated into tangible numbers,
Consoles - they have the console game for the next generation under their lock and key. Developers WILL always prioritise the consoles, we've seen it time and time again. Any AMD exclusive graphical options to the consoles will therefore translate fairly heavily and seemlessly (in theory) to the Radeon cards for console ports.
NVIDIA have been aggressive with the timing and pricing.. but IMO they've made 2 mistakes. One is VRAM and the other is not releasing the 3080ti. They've held back on it for their obvious price gouging reasons. but if AMD can challenge the 3080... and dare I say it.. surpass it... then wow... NVIDIA will IMO be in trouble.
Only time will tell now. History says AMD will flop at the high-end... but we'll see.

Sadly I think you're right. Cyberpunk will tell us everything we need to know about if Raytracing is still a pipedream or whether its the real deal. It has every NVIDIA trick under the hood. If the 3080 doesn't steam-roll it, or dare I say it, AMD's offerings match it.. then NVIDIA are going to need to move a new GPU in fast.
Do we want to be playing Cyberpunk at 4k/80-120fps or 4k/50-60fps with raytracing? I know you've mentioned the 3060 but I have doubts even the 3080 or 3090 can do that. RTX crippled games last generation on the 20 series cards at 4k... is the jump really going to be that gigantic?
I think all the rumours on Youtube and Twitter about Navi 21/Navi 22 are inaccurate. AMD don't want the info leaked, it's not in their interests.
They were inaccurate for Navi / RDNA gen 1, and most of the generations before it.
I think AMD would need to announce what clock speeds are planned for RDNA 2 GPUs, to give us an accurate idea of performance.
It seems impossible to calculate otherwise, we won't know the TFlop count, pixel rate or texture rate without this information.

I was careful as a few nvidia champions will spit in your face should you mention the stack. I have read a few people say the 2070 was capable but I think they were being generous with the settings they were turning down rather than being realistic. If the 2080Ti was barely able to manage it, I'm sure the entry tier would be a slideshow, ok some games it may be playable but that means 3 out of thousands people are buying.
The 3070 should be possible this time round but Im waiting to see proper footage before conceding raytracing is a thing on the entry cards.

I'm not into fanboying. I'm an RTX owner but a quick youtube will reveal that RTX on the 20 series cards is far from perfect if you want good framerates.

If NVIDIA haven't solved this, we're still left with "do I want to play this game 4k 80-120fps buttery smooth' or "do i want to have RTX shadows on and dip under 60..."
And as far as I'm aware, very few of us have paid £££££££ to get into PC gaming to play under 60fps.
Double standards are twice as good. Jayz2Cents have been bothering me for a looong time and GN has started as well lately with their rants about companies. Even the intel one was getting on my nerve and I think most of what Intel gets these days are deserved. For a guy(j2c) who claims to have worked in the industry prior to youtube, he sure makes himself look like an incompetent fool, a pretty clueless **** tbh.

I have no problem with these people picking companies up on what they are doing wrong, I do however have an issue with them bringing up what they think these companies are going to do wrong before it even happens, or picking one up for something then not picking up another for it.
Personally I'm not a fan of JayZTwoCent but how is that equivalent? RT is a rendering tech and RTX features also came to a range of games for people to check out in varying amounts and guises including Quake 2 - there is also a reason Minecraft got some early love as the technology is a good fit for breaking ground with its relatively simple implementation and possibility of optimising around the blocks for performance reasons.
There is no specific reason for AMD to make people go to a specific game to get further information about their upcoming GPUs.
There's really no more info to be gained by looking at the card in a game, display output config is about it.
