NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

According to this the power limit for AIB 3080s is 350w with the founders cards being 370w

.
seems odd to me that

I would get a FE but that power connector is awful

I wouldn't call it a waste, not a huge price jump over the 3070 for more speed and 2GB more vram. For games like Cyberpunk I think it will help a lot which matters with a high hz screen
8GB Vram is fine for 1440P and £300 is quite a large increase bearing in mind the guy will need a new PSU also, Its a 60% price increase for at most 25% performance and it could be as little as 0% performance if your frame capped at 120HZ.

It wasnt. It was 105Mhz OC.

A Standard 2080ti was 1545Mhz and the Asus ROG Strix was 1650. The later special edition white ROG STrix was 1740Mhz and the ROG Matrix was 1800.

More to the point, last time the EVGA FTW Ultra was a 205Mhz pre-OC. This time its only 90.

The FE was 1635. Like I said, only 30 MHz difference.

I hope you're wrong and they OC like champs...

So hopefully the reviews will contradict what we're hearing but it seems to suggest what we are hearing that if you had a Hype denoiser the ampere is going to be a flop?

I'm talking about future games, RDR2 just barely manages 60fps maxed out with a 2080Ti at 4k. That bright memory benchmark has 41fps minimums at 1440p with a 3080 (though maybe an extreme example right now) but you can see where things are going.

Depends what you're happy with in performance/settings and what you want to spend.

A 3080 is certainly not wasted on 1440p imo

LOL They aren't going to OC like champs, if they OC at all. Just look at the cooling solutions at stock! They are clearly seriously struggling to shift the heat as it is. I've never seen so much cooling on stock cards. 3 and 4!! slot 320mm plus cards not even at the highest end. They wont overclock at all. They are already maxed out.

We've seen chunky AIBs before, nothing new. Also, the FE cooler seemed to cope pretty well in the FLIR test that was leaked.

I think it's a bit daft to judge OC potential on the size of a cooler - look how crap the old blower style FE designs were, yet you could still crank out an OC with them.

How long do NV produce the Founders for? literally till EOL?

Probs a stupid question :D
Think so. They tend to have periods out of stock however. I'm expecting this to happen fairly quickly on release but we'll see. If the 3090's are plentiful it'll make me think there's something better coming later.

Dude, the back plates have vast cutouts on them to try and cope with the extra heat. Look at the power draw specs on these things. It's not daft to look at that and come to sensible and obvious conclusions. There will not be much of any OC headroom on these cards. 100%
