NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Think I will take a punt on a 3080. Going by the techpowerup graph it appears to be a 233% relative increase in performance from my Vega56 which should keep me happy for a year or three.

I'm going out on a limb and going to say the 3080ti/super will be able to be sli'd like the 3090!

says this on the website about it -
GEFORCE RTX™ NVLINK® BRIDGE
(FOR 30 SERIES PRODUCTS)

Why not just put for 3090 if that's the only one to support sli?

Because the upcoming 3090ti and Titan will both support Nvlink ;)

At 4K the 3080 is double the performance of the 5700XT.
That's as pure GPU grunt battle as you can get. I think it's unrealistic to expect AMD to be besting that level of performance.

Thought the big Navi was meant to have double the cores of the 5700xt and also more performance per core?

On that basis I would expect the Big Navi to beat the 3080.

I'm yet to watch the video, what case did they use? Or was it on a test bench?

As a side note TastyPC had a ~10% reduction in CPU temps when using a piece of cardboard to block airflow from the GPU going into the CPU cooler. Unfortunately she didn't compare it to a FE 2080ti.

Their test setup doesn't mention if open bench or case sadly.
