Running a 970 right now so I might just switch to another 3080 model if it's back in stock. Anything will be a good upgrade at this point!

I'd love an opinion from you guys, I currently run a 1070 and the new card is £730 but unlikely I'll get it before end of October according to one of Gibbo's posts and the order numbers above - I appreciate the order numbers won't be super accurate due to cancellations etc, but they're probably not far off and I reckon I'm 3,800 to 4,000th in line.

I'm actually very tempted to buy a used ROG STRIX 2080 ti, I've been negotiation with a guy and can get it for £600. I have a 1440p 144hz monitor so the 2080 ti feels like an absolute monster - I could also drive and get it this evening.

Adding to the fact that the AIB cards don't seem to have any performance gain over the FE cards (which I know was expected as FE are good) but the one I've bought it approx £100 more than FE, it feels like a smart choice to go for the 2080 ti.

Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on my situation? will I end up kicking myself in a year because some amazing games with ray tracing will be released and my 2080 ti can't run at more than 30fps in those games?

I wouldn't pay £600 for a used 2080Ti, that is slower than a 3080, with what will be sketchy warranty (if any) as Asus RMA is atrocious. 2080Ti is not worth more than about £450 at the top end, with warranty remaining.

If it was me i would rather wait for a brand new card,
i have the 1070 and its not causing me any performance problems at 1440p atm,
so im happy to wait, i wouldn't want to pay £600 for a used 2080ti, not that its not a good card but you never know whats been done to it,
maybe if it was £300 but thats never going to happen just yet i dont think

Someone got one delivered https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/33956875/

They must have paid via PayPal, all other payment methods were taking ages to process whereas PayPal were processing nearly instantly. Really sucks that people lost out simply due to the payment method they chose. I guess that's how business works though - whoever's money's clears first gets the sale.

100% also running a 1070 at 1440p here, I'd wait until Jan over paying anywhere near £600 for a 2080ti

From the looks of it over 13K cards ordered. There is no way OCUK are going to get that amount of stock this side of Christmas, nor would they have the warehouse to store it all in. They need to come clean as to how they're going to possibly fulfil these orders, based on known knowns.

I had some problems with my order appearing on my account so might be the exception to the rule:

If it helps, I paid via paypal and it was also sat at pending until the mass emails came out at 7pm - even though the payment processed paypal's side immediately.

The time of the order on the (late) confirmation email is the main point here, regardless of how long it took for OC to catch up, he still ordered within 2 mins hence him being a lucky mofo :D

20,000 orders from thier website or 20,000 cards have shipped? Do you have a link

No link as it mentions the competitor but 20,000 orders were placed with no chance of fulfilling most of them any time soon according to Zotac DE.

They are not happy that the forest had pre-orders open for so long.

I see Gibbo waffling on about exchange rates, funny thing Is I am a forex trader, and I can tell you that is complete BULL ****. and you know what else is BULL, charging another £126.66 hidden charge, I did not see until after the order was completed, you can see clearly in my basket pre checkout the price of the card, now let me tell you as a forex trader, a difference of £126.66 between GBP and any rate for that matter would take years, even decade. OCUK have a lot to explain.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's VAT?

I've submitted a support ticket to see if they can give me any further details as to where I stand per my GFX card request - Asus GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix Gaming OC 10GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card. Not expecting much but would be still good to know. My gaming laptop is on its way out and all I'll i'm waiting on now for me new build is the card and the case (also awaiting for supplier to ship to overclockers).

Apparently some people who used Amazon Pay timed out and they had to reorder

That's the VAT, being a 'Forex trader' I hope you would've known that.

You're a forex trader but don't know that the £126.66 charge is for 20% UK VAT?
