I'm still using a 970. It's gotten to the point where it's having a hard time with many games, but buying a 2080 would be a waste because I can get the 3080 in a few months for the same price. At the same time, I'd rather not sit on this 970 for too long because it really does struggle these days. So knowing that a 2080 is a waste but having absolutely no idea when I can get my 3080 despite it being released really is quite frustrating.

Yeah my friend is in the same position with the same card as you, but is holding tight after watching pricing shoot up massively. It is funny though how the exchange rate has affected OCUK more than most other resellers lol

I dont get why everyone is so desperate to get hold of these cards, especially watching cards like the Gigabyte Eagle soar over £70 upwards in price for something that looks like a brick. Performance might be great, but completely overstated how good they actually are and they aren't cheap or a bargain (only when comparing to the Turding flop).
Yeah upgrading from a 1070, but also wtf £70 more now than I paid, that's insane

Personally use a 1080 at the moment, mainly want to upgrade because I want to do some experimenting with Raytracing + AI stuff along side wouldn't mind the better nvenc (I know it uses same as some 1650s, 1660/ti and 20xx) since I heavily use it in video rendering & recording. Also do want it before cyberpunk releases.

Initially wanted to mess with some AI stuff back in March/April but knew the 3000 series was releasing backend of the year so held off buying a 20xx and experimenting, especially since rumoured raytracing performance back then was 2x which is true in very specific games.

Do we have any idea of stock levels of 3090 from oc ? At £1500 we shouldn’t be seeing no where near the demand the 3080 did last week... any tips on Thur so I can bag myself one

you would think so but i think everyone will be surprised come Thursday

theres lots of people with more money than sense

Business Expense it, I was so tempted to in all honesty and if I used CUDA way more in anything I do I would 100% do it.
The FE 3090 is lackluster, AIB might be way better, the FE 3090 the clock speeds from the leaks look disappointed paired with temperature considering its such a beefy cooler. Think the clocks might be a decent chunk better if other coolers can tame its heat better.

Wouldn't be surprised if with AIBs we see a 15~20% performance gain in games rather than 10% but even then its a meh result.

I get that, but I dont get the desperation to be utterly gouged by e-tailers... Dont get me wrong, I want one too, but I'm not handing over 100's above the £649 touted price.

Because most of us ordered at the RRP on launch day, or others got the slightly more expensive models, before they got gouged 2-3 times over... Lol

Got my Gigabyte Eagle for £649 so sat waiting for that.

doesnt need to be anything like the demand. lets say ocuk did get 17000 orders for 3080s last week. they have less than 10 3090s available so even if just 1% of people who ordered a 3080 want a 3090 thats still 170 chasing less than 10 cards.

I was amazed to see even tiny channels with not great content getting 3080 FE cards during the embargo period

To be fair they often use the same card and just send it between channels for a short time. Obviously thats not to say they're not being trigger-happy with dealing them out, but Id imagine a lot of smaller channels arent necessarily getting their own one to keep or whatever

Because if you bought from here no £649 cards exist anymore and were literally increasing in price in peoples baskets.

i had evga card in my basket at the bolton lot and it was £649 when i got to checkout it was £719 or something

managed to get from ocuk for 689 and that didnt go up by checkout luckily

But... but... the exchange rate. Though hilarious things, EU stores have gouged the prices as well by in some cases over 10% which the USD/EUR exchange rate hasn't fluctuated that much.
Curious what those EU sellers are blaming it on.

Other etailers I saw last night are listing the Gigabyte Eagle for £799. So getting the card at £699 actually looking like a bargain. In wonderland fairy world we'd all be able to get one tomorrow for MRSP. But not this world. You're looking at months of inflated prices now.

Problem i see for the 3090FE is that they may be cooler but they have exactly the same power max as the 3080 so they may not boost to anything like as high as the 3080 never mind any overclocking room. The 3090 FE really should have had more than one 12 pin power connector.

Some AIB 3090s are 410W. I am sure some later ones will be 500W beasts.

I still can't get my head around demand. I knew it would be popular, but I actually thought considering the last few months around the world with furloughs, etc, I genuinely figured way less people would be in a position where they felt like spending 650-850 on enthisast hardware. Guess that's why I work in Sports streaming and not as an Economist! haha

So what's actually being done currently? Because it's Tuesday now and we still really don't have any indication of when the queue system is coming or when stock might be coming back in, daily communication on things would be nice tbh.

Nvidias response to the stock situation told us nothing so I don't understand how that's relevant, especially when FE cards aren't even sold on OC, what are the third parties saying? Have we had updates from Asus?

It's being dealt with in the background I assume, they'll update us when theres an update to give
