@Gibbo
Any rough ETA for evga rtx 3080 ftw3 ultra ?
I was told to stay with this as only limited number of people have ordered and dont see any mention about EVGA cards ? are these more delayed unlike other AIB partiners ?
was told to wait till November or December

I don't get Americans shopping in the UK for PC Parts, everyime I watch videos from Jayz, Linus or any of those that are from Canada/US, I always get super jealous how amazing stores they have over there, we could only dream of a national chain store like Micro Centre over here in the UK, I would literally spend my life in there, so why on earth would you be shopping here in the UK, we have nothing like you guys have over in the U.S.

All it's doing is delaying us Brits every more when you do this, not like the stock situation is any better here, infact probably worse, since likes of EVGA are prioritising USA over anywhere else let alone the UK. Really need enlightning as to way you you Americans would do this, what's the reason?

I thought it was a lot of slave labour in Asia don't let them have a holiday they have to be told to work 24-hours a day and make GPUs for the UK
Considering its the celebrate the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 im sure they will celebrate in style

I miss when PC World actually had a good stock of components in store that you could walk in and buy. Not like now when the only stuff they have is a few overpriced prebuilds at the back of Curry's.

The only thing pc world is good for, is a nice selection of Logitech hardware and usually well priced. I've never bought anything else from them.

ha I don't even have currys near me, nearest one is an hour away, but to be fair they do have a PC Gaming centre at the back with 3 rows of live Gaming PCs to sit there and just play all day, but again, it's in the corner and not dedicated like a Micro Centre. Where they literally have cabinets FULL of gpus and so on, lucky to find 1 or 2 real old GPUs sat on a shelf in currys, at 3-4 times over the going rate.

@Gibbo quite a few people have enquired about an update on the queue system which I think is pretty fair to ask. Also, an update on the stock situation for the gigabyte eagle cards would be great too

Nvidia is preparing to launch a new set of cards, when they just barely paper launched the first set of cards... they are so pathetic.
It madness, to be honest this is the first time ive tried to get a card at launch,
I wanted the FE and thought to myself if i cant get that then AIB it will be,
The 17th in reality should have been sold as Pre order day, Nvidia led people to believe this card would be available on the 17th,
Although that is true in small quantities, the potential wait of November or even next year some some is quite shocking,
Im sure they will continue to make excuses that they didn't expect such numbers etc, but its quite clear the stock levels were never ready for the 17th of October, never mind September.

EVGA are not even shipping to Europe yet, they're totally focused on the USA. Expect several months.

I'll be honest, it kind of makes sense as to not ship internationally during big launches. If we're only allocated a certain amount of UK stock, then it's kind of ******** that UK customers are screwed over due to other foreign markets being sold out. And listen, I'm all for us, and I mean ALL of us getting our cards, regardless of where you come from. My issue is in the fairness of stock allocation, as it puts UK and Irish customers at a major disadvantage. It makes me wonder if a very large amount of sales are international, leading to the new policy change from OCUK. I suppose this is a lesson many retailers will use for up and coming technology releases. Or they won't and it will happen all over again which is probably the correct answer.

I think the consensus is production numbers will go up quite a lot in October, after <Asian holiday which I can't remember the name of> in the first week of October

Stock is having to be airfreighted in at the moment which is both limited and expensive. Container ships will arrive october/november then stock should be more abundant apparently. However the price will likely go up for the non-pre ordered as its rumoured Nvidia is giving a $50 rebate to retailers during september while stock is in very short supply, then then the price hike will apply when abundant stock finally arrives...

Summary of the Strix quick look video:

Bloke "had a few minutes alone with a Strix, so he asked for a screwdriver."
- Not sure if it's a vapor chamber
- Definitely a massive cooler (quite heavy)
- Direct contact with the memory, power stages, etc
- Card has "an impressive PCB" :p (sorry, just typing it as it comes)
- Aluminium shroud has a thermal pad for some of the power stages
- Backplate has thermal pads, also thick-ish aluminium
- PCB ends at the power connectors (which should shorten the card significantly if moving to water)
- There are a few empty connectors on the card that may be usable to "change voltage on the fly"
- Nothing spectacular on the back
- Additional shunt resistor on the back?

Intrigue.

Well done Gibbo for stopping US/EU orders. US gets plenty of cards, and the EU have treated us very badly so they can expect no favours from us.
