Excellent inane interviews from 1 2 and 3, Hamilton not prepared to give anything away and Bottas stating the bleedin obvious, but in usual boring way. Sums up the race really, driving by numbers.

The FIA certainly have it in for Hamilton now. He’s going to have to be squeaky clean. Mercedes need to stop screwing him over too.
This is my take as well, mercedes have been poor on strategy this year.
Strategy might not be the right term but, they have certainly had "unforced errors."
I can't think if it has affected Bottas this year either.

Hmm not sure saying "they're trying to stop me" when talking about the stewards was the best idea Lewis!
I can't remember most of Bottas' performances. They're usually that unmemorable.

Well we’ve not seen the FIA take this kind of approach for many years. Remember this penalty was discretionary and that he was advised by the team - yet he gets two penalty points. Yet you get drivers like grosjean who are completely reckless at times who get away with far less in terms of penalty. Just my opinion of course, but it stinks to me. I’ll enjoy watching Hamilton breaking the records, but I can’t imagine following F1 after he’s gone. F2 and F3 are far more interesting these days.
Comfortably the worst race of the season.
Hamilton gets a double penalty for a stupid practice start move - no idea why Mercedes okayed that - but if the first time he did it was so bad why didn't the Stewards comment on it then instead of waiting for him to do it again and issuing a double penalty during the race? Then there was a stupid rule on the second corner. Yeah, sure, if they go well off the track send them through a detour but doing it when they dip a wheel over a line is daft. It gave an ugly artificial edge to proceedings.
Add to that a miserable track and you've got a recipe for a dull race. Albon/Norris/Russell was entertaining for a while, as was watching Gasly blitz past Albon, but that was about the most fun the race had to offer.
Congratulations to Bottas, yes it took some luck, but he did what was needed to get the win, comfortably dispatching Max. I suspect he might have been able to beat Hamilton even without the penalty because of his tyre advantage after Quali left Lewis on the softs especially with Mercedes "strategy" call, but it's very hard to be sure. Max was solidly on pace with the Mercedes again, but for me the best drives were lower down the order - Pérez, Ricciardo, Leclerc, and Gasly being the pick. Albon was dire again, as was Vettel. Russell surely had his worst race of the season so far.

According to Toto, it says in the race directors notes for Sochi - you can make a practice start from beyond the lights on the right hand side.
So Hamilton was penalised for something that was allowed in the race directors notes...

Oh I’d love that to be true, just to see the fallout. All the FIA could do at this point is give him his licence points back, although he should get a 10s bonus next race (a small joke, but that would be fair though).
