Front bumper will be changed at some point this week, just need to trim the uncut bumper to fit around the FMIC. It was difficult to find an S2 Aero Tourer V as it is, not to mention cutting bumpers to fit the Intercooler was a popular thing in Japan.

Well, I have had this a few weeks now, but been keeping off the cleaning of it until my detailer is free. He was free this weekend, but unfortunately I wasn't for enough of it. So anyway, I had to do something as it was filthy, so I gave it it's first contact wash this afternoon. Hoping to get it clay barred and start polishing next week to get some of it done before the detailer takes it for the final finish and ceramic coating. I would do it all myself, except it wont fit in my garage to cure, ha ha.

Anyway, here she is. 2020 VW Caravelle Executive, 199 BHP, DSG.

With a mitt (or a sponge if you want to trigger people), and yes (just snowfoams/TFRs and water, like a lot of supermarket washes), respectively.

Yes.

Generally not really viable without a decent base wax/sealant though.

Spray on pre-washes - rinse off
Snow Foam - rinse off
TFR - rinse off
spray on fallout remover - rinse off
spray on tar/bug remover - rinse off
Spray/pressure rinse
spray on sealants / top ups - rinse off
drying blowers

You wouldn't typically do all of those, the point is that the products exist

As said above, a contact wash is when you actually touching the motor.

Also, as said above, if you have a base wax / sealant / ceramic, you can get away without actually touching the motor when cleaning using different products designed for that. Some of the products will strip away your wax / sealant etc.. so you have to be careful with that. But once the good base is down, you can reduce the frequency of having to actually touch the paint when washing the car. If you keep up with regular contactless washes of course. But eventually you will always have to give the car a "proper" wash.

I have started prepping for the detailer now. Just going panel by panel with Flexipads Viper Orange pads and Menzerna 2500, and then finishing with a Quantum Hex Logic White pad with Menzerna 3800. It's coming out well, and can already see the removal of many of the swirl marks the dealer kindly gave me for free with their PDI wash I forgot to ask them not to do.

Well here she finally is!

Renault Megane Mk3 - 2010 - 2.0 TCE twin turbo 16V @ 180 BHP with lots of torque due to the low overall weight of the car! Petrol engine obviously & manual 6 speed gear box (take a bit of getting used to its a bit clunky until you have done a few miles in it!).

Bodywork is in almost new condition I would say as much as 99% flawless (interior is also almost new condition its been well looked after!).

Unfortunately a few exterior scuff marks I got on my journey home with the car when a london bus hit me & just carried on driving even though the driver looked over & knew what he had done he then speeded off & the sun was shining brightly into my eyes I could not even see his reg no before he zoomed around the corner & disappeared (I was in another lane when he hit me & carried on like it was no big thing!)

I am going to get it resprayed its only a small area although the impact was enough to pop the panel side out!

Mechanically its very sound. 12 month MOT & full service as well as loads of replaced parts like brake pads & discs, cam belt & water pump (precautionary measures should be every 5 years on these cars cheaper than the engine getting damaged). The overall main dealer cost for the mot, full service & replaced parts was almost the same as the vehicle cost!

I did a lot of research before buying as my budget is limited. These Megane's are very reliable, cheap to run & fun to drive in a straight line (not so good in the tight corners you need to buy premium tyres with strong grip & the yokohama's its been fitted with are not great on cornering at all I am probably going to scrap them & buy some premium Michelins!).
