I don't mind waiting and this must be frustrating for OCUK as well when they have 10000 orders and receive 20 cards to send out.

Problem is, on the main website, there is no announcement, nothing. Many are still buying the cards without knowing they'll arrive next year. Not everyone is checking the forum so they have zero information.
Communication is key in situations like this. So far, we got some updates on the forum but what about everyone else? Pre-orders are up since 17th of September, does everyone else know they'll receive their cards late this year or next year?

WRONG !

profit is the key :(

to be honest the unofficial queue calculator should be pulled offline. It's just adding to people's confusion and frustration. It has be shown to be demonstrably wrong. Not just inaccurate - straight up, plain, wrong. It estimates a queue in excess of 1300 for the TUF OC yet OC customer service have told customers that the actual amount of orders for that card are around 700 (as of yesterday morning).

There is literally no reason to use the unofficial tool. You may as well roll a dice, times that number by your age and add the number of birds you can see out your window and use that as your "Unofficial" queue position...

I agree, it is so wrong and causing undue stress for people.

Not really. To those that understand probability and scaling incomplete datasets it makes sense. If you don't understand it, don't use it. Yes as new information that contradicts the previous model arrives people's positions will change. That's how it works.

The validity of the data source is questionable at best. It is not an appropriate data set to be used in this manner. Yes you can estimate the popularity of a particular model vs another with it... that's all. It has no close correlation with any actual volume of orders as it is based on an inherently inaccurate data point (order number) as it assumes all orders were 3080 cards....

I ordered at 15:04 and the calculator says I’m at 218, it’s a rough wait, I don’t even have a spare gpu, I miss pc gaming

I ordered at 14:28 unofficial queue says I'm at 79. No spare gpu and have a full new pc built waiting for the card. Miss pc gaming to. Hopefully we won't have long to wait.

You're saying I'm in position zero?! Sweet!

Ah, shoot, wait...

Just did this and got a 39 which is the same number the queue spat out so bang goes your theory! :D:D

The last point is only an issue (in real terms) after around 5-6pm. Since I honestly doubt people were F5ing for hours to order a new monitor. They'd have waited or gone elsewhere. So >95% in the first 3 hours were almost certainly 3080s. Like I say it's useful to look at and see the probability of the cards and a guess on where you might be for your particular card.

The problem seems to be that people cannot understand what unofficial means, or that basing an estimate on incomplete datasets will cause these fluctuations in their personal result. But, that's not a problem with the tool, but with people using it.
