AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

According to digital foundry analysis, the PS5's Ray Tracing performance is on par with the RTX2060 Super

That's not what he said at all, infact there was no direct comparison made. He was explaining why on the PS5 it appears as though RT reflections were of a lower resolution, and used the 2060 super in an entirely different game to explain why it's necessary to hit a target frame rate.

He these also speculates the GPU in the ps5 is approximately the same as the 2060 based on specs.

The entire video was to counter people saying the RT looked crap on screenshots and videos for Spiderman on PS5 and why RT is an expensive technique

Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!

Summary: AdoredTV accused Hardware Unboxed of taking bribes from Nvidia and putting out fake benchmarks, with zero proof. And HU, rightly so, pointed out that this is defamation. AdoredTV also said Steve from HU is a racist, again with zero proof and when Steve tried to talk to him to see what his problem is, he just blew him off and walked away.

Hardware unboxed is like jayz2cents. Both fanboys of different brands. They take every chance to **** on Nvidia while praising AMD. All their benchmarks / videos since turing release have been nothing but biased garbage, using games where AMD fares better and ignoring the rest, especially in their ‘over time’ videos.

So if you bash jayz but praise HUB you’re a hypocrite. Both are at the same level. Just that one is more upfront about it ( jayz being a ma$$ive nv fanboy ), while HUB trying to seem more professional and ‘not biased’.

Funny how HUB had no video pointing out the massive downside of the rx5700xt which is no raytracing. Both consoles + rdna2 will have it while perf in consoles at least being lower than turing. So the excuse that ‘but it aint worth it yet! Perf hit too high’ doesn’t fly anymore. Next 7 years or so, maybe 3 if we get a mid-gen refresh will be pioneered by RT in console games mostly.

That being said, its funny how people choose to bash consoles in general, while people on PC who pretend to enjoy pristine IQ above consoles with ultra settings... will be using rx5700xts while having their games look worse than nextgen games cause no RT. Meanwhile, turing users, yes even those crappy rtx2060s will have RT. Sure they might have to drop the resolution a bit, or maybe use DLSS but they’ll have the option unlike the others. So the ‘fine wine’ is more like ‘sour milk’ in this case.

Bring on the ‘pff dont care bout RT’ excuses while pretending to care about ‘pc masturr raec’ ultra details better than console lulz.

Wow. Id rather have math lessons than this. :(

Wow, there's utterly no bias in you is there? :D

Clearly, lol. ;)

It's not their first "disagreement"

Scroll down the comments were Steve addresses the video. Mind you, a lot of steve/adore comments aren't there any more as they were deleted. There was another video adore did against HU that he deleted.

Once you watch the 1st video and read the "redacted" comments from both of them. It will make sense why this video:

There was another video but it's not there any more.

Full die Navi 22 with all gains considered will be between the 3070 and 3080, leaving Navi 21 to take the fight to the 3080, 3090 and above.
Please stop saying things like "will be" when you realistically have no concrete info on anything. Your performance positioning of Navi21 and 22 is just optimistic speculation at this point.

Man, who ****** on your cereal this morning?

HUB provides some of the most reliable and comprehensive data on GPUs and CPUs, and their conclusions are generally well argued.

I think all reviewers, HUB included, initially said DLSS was poor and DLSS 2.0 is very impressive.

RT on the RTX20X0 cards was just a bit lacklustre, particularly at launch. It costs billions of transistors, provided little benefit and cost the consumer £££. It was a poor product.

There's already EastEnders for the people that like that kind of absolute bowl locks :p

So if RDNA2 RT perf is same as turing it will also be lacklustre yes?

What about people with rx5700xt cards never seeing RT? I thought people bragged how they buy their gpu and ‘fine wine’ makes them last many generations. Suddenly its already outdated while the turings will be fine.

What about the ‘pc much better than console’ crowd? Both the ps5 and xbx will have better visuals than they will be able to achieve on their 57xx cards due to raytracing.

Again not sure why i have to repeat myself. Yes turings price was very bad at the highend. However in the middle, compared to the rx57xx and what it offered for a minimal difference (50-100e), it was a much better, future proofed product. Turing users will be able to play RT games just fine at console level graphics, RX57xx users won’t. They’ll either have to accept lower than console graphics or take the whole price hit and buying a new GPU when RDNA2 launches, making the fine wine argument completely irrelevant.

Coreteks has a picture of the Big Navi die:
https://youtu.be/Fe1xycgVVyM?t=79

He estimates its 536MM2 in size.

I am hoping it is a 30 billion transistor part, but even at 27 billion it's larger than the 3080 which is effectively a 22 billion part due to cut down silicon..

Also I noticed it's rectangular clearly meant to be "squared" with another 80 CU die..

Doesn't look like it's going to be pocket friendly, at 550 to 599 it can potentially push nvidia out of the gaming GPU market but too big a gamble for AMD

What in taking from this is it's looking like it will be competitive. That's great for most people, there should be a viable alternative to Nvidia. As with Intel and Ryzen, I can choose absolute fastest and higher price or slightly slower (single core) and more cores at a lower price. Seems good fit everyone.

If the same applies to GPUs and ray tracing I think most of us will be happy. Personally I don't think RT is worth the hit to frame rates until I can run 1440p 100+ FPS for £5-600. That choice will vary from person to person.
