Should be a huge jump from my i5-6600k, for sure, and last me a good few years![]()
Right, the Core i5 is bottlenecked in its core count - nowadays 4 cores with 4 logical threads is entry or low-end.

I might notice a small improvement from my 2500k. Maybe.
Seems like the board prices are coming down now as well, steady reductions on B550's and B450's, so X570's, might be some people getting big upgrades, and big bargains at the same time.![]()
Not unlikely. But in fairness it probably will be very expensive.I highly doubt you'll actually upgrade anything, as you'll argue it is all too expensive and convince your self to wait...![]()
Seems all but confirmed at this point yeah... I haven’t seen anyone rebuffing the 5xxx naming scheme.
All the bitching about mobile being architecturally a generation behind the desktop versions of the same “series” clearly got to them lol.
Is this ‘5925.2X’ available to buy then? 6.9Ghz sounds rather nice over my current [email protected]... also sounds expensive!Which model did you go for, Richdog? I went for the 5925.2X. Brand new SKU, but very limited supply atm. Can't believe I managed to pick one up. 6.9Ghz all core boost. 31.5c/63t. It's a real beauty.
Upgrading from an LGA1366 Intel i7 930 Nehalem 2.8Ghz CPU. Very excited for this launch!
Any new motherboards coming out for the release? Have been looking at the x570 Aorus master. Not sure if I should pick one up now as they may creep up in price during release of these new chips?

I'm in you same position and I was looking to the aorus master too, but at the moment i would wait at least until the 8th to know if there will be any new chipset or x570 refresh upcoming
Been looking at which motherboard to buy, these 2 seem to interest me msi x570 tomahawk wifi which is around £200 and has one of the best VRM, also the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Ultra because of the 3 M.2 Gen 4 slots but is slightly more, cant stand spinnin drives anymore so like the option to fill more slots in the future
