Football and the Coronavirus

Hope PL can keep it under control. Seems like could quite easily spiral out of control.
I'm not sure about other clubs but Pep Lijnders confirmed that we're doing our own private testing in addition to the PL tests. Players will catch the virus, we've just got to hope that clubs are doing as much testing as possible to make sure they find out quick enough to stop the spread.
Mane tested positive now.

They're all probably sharing inhalers.
I bet you're one of John Merro's merry men Azza :p

Interesting bit of news reported in the Athletic today. Supposedly Spurs are testing a new, almost instant, covid test. It's similar to a breathalyser and takes around 30 seconds for the results to come back. It has a reported accuracy of 85% compared to 98.8% with the current PL testing however Spurs trial has reportedly shown almost identical results from both tests. If this was rolled out across the Leagues it would almost eradicate positive players from taking part in training/games - clubs could test daily, even twice a day and then still do their once/twice per week main testing.

I've no idea of the cost of this test but if it wasn't too expensive it could be the key to getting supporters back into stadiums too. Imo attending a football stadium is already safer than going to a bar or cinema however if clubs were able to offer instant testing on the turnstyles, even at 85% accuracy, they'd be able to make it a hell of a lot safer.

I think we need to be looking at having a 6 week break sooner rather then later. The R rate when football started back up was 0.35...the same as in Germany now where spectators are allowed back in.
No, no point in keeping stopping football. This isn’t going to get any better with just stopping football. As long as the testing is kept up and the crowds kept out, it should continue.

I reckon we get anymore entire squad will be told to isolate as a precaution.

None of our players should be doing international games imo since it's clearly spreading within team

A bit of an update on the tv situation and how games will be able to be viewed moving forwards. The Times are reporting that additional games, that haven't already been bought by Sky & BT, will now only be available on Sky & BT's apps until fans return to stadiums. The Mail have gone one further and are reporting that Sky & BT are going to make these games PPV too.

edit: And now the Telegraph reporting that all games that weren't to be televised will only be available on Sky/BT Box Office and charged at £15 a time.

I guess the justification for the price will be that these additional games are only being televised because games are behind closed doors and £15 for x amount of people to watch is considerably cheaper than £20-100 per person ticket prices.

I also feel that's steep!

Free last season now suddenly £15 a pop? I'd say if they really wanna charge my max would be £5.

I don't get why they can't do what was done last season? Or just let sky,bt, Amazon etc buy the remaining ones so that way people who already pay a monthly fee can watch them for no extra cost

Tbf probably just means people will find a way to watch it for free if the cost is true anyway as it is possible
