Sorry for noob question but is there any chance these new chips could give us more PCI lanes off the CPU? So we could get more full speed PCIE4 x4 M2 slots?

Oh I don't mind X570 being more expensive but I was just stating my disappointment at seeing an X570 board without a fan which is probably going to be around £4-500, those kind of prices make no sense to me when you can get boards as low as £160.
 
I too was worried about the chipset fan, but on this MSI Tomahawk X570, it only spins on boot. I dont have a m.2 drive connected through the chipset though.
 
Currently X470 board, with Ryzen 7 2700. Assume once available my board will support Zen 3 with a bios update?

I know AMD said at a stage it wasn't supported, but think it was confirmed they will support X470 now?

Expensive boards don't really make sense to me at all. With other components you spend more to get more performance.

With motherboards you spend more to... hmm, RGB? To have more plastic spoilers that do nothing? To have 20x USB slots you'll never use? Or to have a motherboard that doesn't overheat like a beatch, which to my mind is a criteria even the cheapest boards should meet.

Managed to pick the X570 board up for 199 which was about £25 more than a B550.

Same here I don't see the point in paying £500+ for a motherboard when my £200 one has everything I need!!
 
With motherboards you're paying for connectivity, quality of power delivery, quality of the components used, in some cases you're paying a premium for the brand, Asus ROG for instance. At the end of the day you pay an amount you are comfortable with for what you need, if you don't need 101 USB ports or the 16+4 phase power delivery you'll go for a cheaper board because it meets your demand.
