*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Supply & demand. Whether its scalpers or OC. Whats the point in buying something nobody wants and is in plentyful supply that you can't make a profit on. You would be guaranteeing yourself a loss. If OC are using cards in pre-builds they are effectively scalping also to make a few extra quid at our expense. This is just business and it is ruthless. Its very rarely fair :(
If what these ebay sellers are asking for is more than you want to pay they wont make a sale. The fact is there's always somebody with more money than sense who will pay anything to get what they (or their kids) want. If one came up that was in hand and reasonable money i bet a lot of us here would jump on it. Even those that think scalping is bad. If its so bad why are the people complaining even looking at all these listings in the first place? Just stay away from ebay and stop looking there hoping for anything more than an overpriced item. I know of 2 people in this thread that have said how bad scalping is only to go and buy one themselves.
If scalping is fair game, then so is ruining their auctions and cancelling their orders.

Im not condoning scalpers but you guys need to stop bitching about it. As of right now while i write this post there are 19 cards on fleabay and some are just preoorders that dont even have the cards themselves... Think about that, 19 cards, there are THOUSANDS of us waiting for a card... 19 cards doesnt change anything. The issue starts right at the top and its a severe lack of GPUs.

I’m going to write to OC.co.uk’s Managing director about this debacle. It’s a total farce and if he’s not careful the wave of poor reviews will end the company.
Come on chaps (and chappettes, 2020 diversity and all!)... think the pitch forks need to be put away now. It serves OC not one bit to deliberately mess with people and fail to fulfil orders, so why would they? Yes the stock debacle is a pain, yes it’s disappointing that they don’t seem to be getting as much stock as others (certainly in terms of variety), yes we would all love more updates, but don’t think for one minute that they’re not trying to get as many cards as they can. We have no idea the volumes shipped by OC or any other supplier, all we know is that demand is much greater than supply - all around the world!!! Orders will be fulfilled as soon as they can so let’s not all become too nasty...

Don't be. I had competitors open too but had no luck. Everyones site was crashing, i got 2 or 3 in my checkout (1 each time seperately) at the main competitor but their site was crashing worse than OC's and it got removed from my cart and also when i got through to delivery and payment it crashed and didnt load delivery options. Launch was generally a shambles and only bots or people with 100GB internet or pure luck succeeded in the early window, a lot of us got the short end of the stick.
Same here. Was trying to buy from about 6 different places. Got one order in around 2.30pm (30 minutes of crashed sites) but they let me down. Jumped back on to OC about 9pm (after my ‘can’t fulfil your order’ email) so knew I’d be waiting.

Why? My pitch fork is still firmly out. Leaving aside the initial allowance for queue jumping which has left some people artificially long in their chosen GPU queue, and leaving aside the near absolute lack of communication from the store...and probably a few more things.

My bug bear is the landing page for 3 series cards. I have never read such a work of fiction in all my life, and that...is ALL on OCUK. Main distributer? DAILY stock arrival? etc etc

Nvidia didn't force them to put that up.

It wasn't put up before the now legendary shortage.

It was put up afterwards, and is a work of utter fiction. Anyone not coming to this forum would read that and be reassured that they were in safe hands...

How many of you enlightened folk in here can honestly say you feel in safe hands?

Yeah that is how I felt until this week really - as I say, I am not impatient (although when I ordered the Eagle said they were getting stock in that week, which definitely did inform my decision), so I figured Id have some wait, but at that stage none of us knew just how insanely small the stock was, so whislt I went into it thinking there would be a wait, I don't necessarily agree that it was clear that we'd be waiting potentially months for that order to be fulfilled (I did not actively browse the forum, despite registering quite some time ago).

As a transaction, it doesn't really bother me that I am having to wait - I currently have a 1080ti, and bought the card for Cyberpunk...and even if it arrives slightly after that, I have enough perspective where waiting for my enthusiast PC hardware to turn up is the ultimate first world problem, especially against the backdrop of 2020 - so as a general 'You ordered this in demand item and have to wait for it' transaction, I am not that fussed.

The only bit that has soured me over time is the lack of transparency and communication when it comes to reassuring customers - as I say, I agree with the 'these are not in stock yet, and its first come first serve', but I disagree that how severe that situation was in reality was all that clear
Yeah i get that, although wish I had your Ti. I dodged 2xxx series and have struggled on with 1070 for ages, probably 12 mths longer than i should, so another couple of weeks is doable.

i finally received my queue for the Asus strix oc 3080 order that i placed on the 5th of october 2:15 am my queue is 993 :P i was expecting worst tbh

There you go

As a debacle it is, I am not sure you would get much change by complaining to them other than a self-serving warm and fuzzy...

As for scalpers.
It is what it is. Supply versus demand. They are selling queue positions unless they have the card in hand (I have seen a few) so essentially doing exactly what OCUK and other companies are doing have done.
If people choose to spend their money with them more fool them but it is not for us to judge. At the same time, the sellers are not doing anything illegal and XXXX and Paypal have the buyers back.

Now, who is for registration for buying a new card as this has all the nightmare attributes of Glastonbury ticket sales before registration came a long? :D:D:D

Feel like oc uk could go bust at any time and ill have to fight for my cash

So I still haven't received my queue number but when I do I'm sure it will be the biggest number and therefore I shall win.

Still rocking my 980TI which I'm now hoping will do me okay for cyberpunk 2077.
