Don't worry you are getting ahead of yourself, you will get a queue position in a months time and hopefully some form of vague crummy update (that also doesnt seem to be true) with backlash of customers being very ungrateful. :D

Sure it was 10 days for all but the 5950

God guys. I've had an absolute blinder here. So my 7 year old RIG died mid-lockdown so I used it as an opportunity to wait for the new Ryzen & Nvidia launches. I came stumbling into the 3080 launch which as we all know was a great success...I then decided to buy everything in preparation for the Ryzen launch (bought a 1660ti to tide me over, once I'd saw how far in the queue I was). I was online all day yesterday for the launch, tried to purchase from OC the SECOND it went live and could get it into the basket. I managed to secure one elsewhere and I was told it would be shipped and delivered for today. I had the chaps on chat this morning to figure out why it was still awaiting picking and it turns out they switched them to pre-orders when they sold out half way through without warning. Now I've got a full rig sat in the office waiting to be built with a stop gap GPU and no CPU. I'm finding out pretty rapidly that I have a scarily low number of hobbies!

Just going by an educated guess but I think most of the stock is getting swept up by bot users who have no stake in the community (speaking as a new account lol) It was a huge scourge with the NVIDIA launch too but the stock was even worse in that case, speaking as someone who expects to be on the step-up program for several months.

There's almost no scalper sellers in popular places (ebay, amazon etc.), hence I doubt this is bots this time. Likely just a hype train and FOMO - same as with stock, crypto etc. People might not need it, but they definitely want it - no matter what. And so it went poof. There might actually be a bunch of cancelations on the way, after emotions cool down - same as happened with NVidia cards.

And I expect new coming Radeon cards will be once again identical situation. They'll be gone in minutes, lots of NVidia waiting people will switch, even if temporarily. Then a bit later we'll see bunch of auctions with "opened, not used" cards and likely CPUs too.

quick question, you have it as "awaiting picking up from warehouse" or waiting for DPD to pick it up? 'cause I have the shipped status and a DPD mail but when checking the status DPD reports they're still waiting for the package

So I have it simply as 'Awaiting picking' which suggests to me that it's in the 'grab the stock from the warehouse and process' stage > No Stock, no progression. What scared me is the chap on chat when I challenged him on why it was showing a 6th dispatch & delivery date he simply answered with "So, I'm pretty sure this is a pre-order...keep an eye on your e-mails"...Chaos!

Maybe OCUK should consider consider overclocking their own server! :D

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, there have been difficulties getting new supplies of hamsters, plus their price has gone up due to adverse exchange rates.

Just to clarify, Does yours say Awaiting Picking, Estimated Despatch date 6th - 9th Nov with a est delivery date 10th - 12th. And they're saying this is incorrect?

Thanks

Yes, 'Louis' from the chat said this information was incorrect. The order was a pre-order slated for 20th he was 'pretty sure' but couldn't say for certain

Which one or at least copy and paste it into this one for us.
Hi there

OK our master disti who had still not delivered our wave one stock has now confirmed they are sorry for the delay and not having stock here for launch but that stock will now be arriving next week:
5900X - 300pc
5800X - 100pc
5600X - 100pc

Now I have posted amounts here, but the reason we tend to not post amount is because stock can and does get stolen/damaged/lost in transit and that is why we tend to not post stock numbers, because if customer who is say position 295 in the queue for a 5900X will now be think HELL YES MY CPU WILL BE HERE NEXT WEEK, but what happens if the courier loses a carton of the CPU's so that is 20 units lost, or a carton is squashed/damaged, that is upto 20 units lost or the delivery gets stolen.

That is why we do not generally post numbers because all the above does happen and sometimes couriers will split the shipment also so they will delivery half one day and half the next day.

This is why we do not post numbers because the stock comes a long way and passes through many hands before it gets to OcUK and during that journey stock can go missing or get damaged. Hope that helps educate some people as to the reasoning of why we do not post numbers and the above would normally be given as very large amount of 5900x and large amounts of 5800x and 5600x.

The master distributor had this to say in regard to what day next week we can expect the above delivery:
"hard to say as havent got pre alert - they generally deliver on wednesday on pallets but if not pallet can deliver any day by dhl . on the 300 it had a CMAD shipping date from aMd of 26/10 & SDD date expected arrival date of 4/11 which is why expecting any day"

So as you can see it is not as simple as an item ships and arrives next day, these large manufacturer deliveries can really take some time, you can see from above the 5900X in question left AMD on 26th October so by the time we get them they have spent two weeks travelling going through various warehouses and delivery depots. That is why stock can easily go missing or get damaged in transit.

I hope this helps people to understand and educate better as to why these things can take time and why the numbers we think were getting may always not materialise.

I suspect other distributors will also get some stock next week which I shall be working hard to grab as much as I can, plus AMD have our master disti purchase orders which now total over 10,000 CPUs. :)

I can give a much better level of transparency with a processor than I can a GPU, because with a CPU I work with AMD or Intel directly and then just master disti. On a GPU AMD/NVIDIA does not own that product, the board partners do and the different board partners have varying levels of communication, some are good, some are poor and they rely on getting GPU's from AMD/NVIDIA which can of course vary and go wrong due to the above also and as there is so many board partners and so many distributors for GPU's it is much harder to near impossible on being as transparent with the GPU's, again hope that helps people understand, I do have some GPU updates today which shall be posted in the sticky thread this afternoon/evening.

Have a great weekend everyone!
