RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

Well cant fault it, my chip just arrived from OC today despite being in Northern Ireland and it being Saturday. Well there goes my day off, not that I'm complaining :)

Was supposed to get my 5900X yesterday but had to change the delivery address so should be here Monday just waiting for a GPU now

I don't think I 'need' an upgrade but for some reason I really want to spend the money. I'm using the 1800X at the moment which was a £95 quid replacement for my dead 1600.

Thank you for your pre-order for the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Sixteen Core 4.9GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail on order 5xxxxxxx.
You are currently in queue position 89

Not totally sure but im hoping i get my cpu soon :( im quite low in the queue so 2 shipments that are incomming to ocuk i should be on the 2nd wave i think i hope lol

and im 245 in the queue for my 3080 trio :/ damnt :(

Wow, have they taken the cash already?
They must have millions in the bank earning intrest while people wait.

I'm needing a full system upgrade, however unlike before, this is going to be a long time before I can just go online and buy everything I need. I can't wait months for each individual part.

May even (don't hit me) have to consider buying a console until everything calms down. Most probably be next summer!

You should see a nice performance difference, what cpu are you looking to upgrade to?

The 5800X looked interesting but ultimately it would be a silly pick not to go for the 5600X at the price point. It's probably more than enough performance for me for a whole bunch of years considering I've had my Ryzen 1xxx build for ages now.

Interesting situation, I might well look at snapping up a 3XXX model if the prices are suitable. Otherwise I did have my eye on the 5800/5600. The 5600 would be great for games but I can't shake the feeling that I might need more cores. It's silly, isn't it?
this is what i did.

grabbed a 3800XT with Farcry for £327.

People who don't need the board but ordered a bundle of board & CPU are you still sticking with that or waiting for a retail CPU?

I'll see how it performs, apart from packaging & a free game I don't see what the difference would be.

As I'll be running a custom water cooling setup its a pain to have to strip it all down to swap CPUs to see which one may be slightly better.

I've also got a retail one on order but I'm no.113 in the queue so may be while until that turns up.

Silicon lottery will be the same either way MO.

Well, here's my 5900X purchase experience...

OcUK I got as far as adding the cpu to my basket at 13:58. It wouldnt get any further, site had 502 gateway page or solid white screen.

An OcUK competitor (competitor 1) I placed an order in store on 04/11 so awaiting to hear about that one

Another competitor (competitor 2) I ordered at 2pm and the order and payment went straight through.
14:10 I received the order confirmaton, order no. and that I had paid for Saturday 7th delivery at £12.50 cost
17:23 I received the invoice status and delivery date 7th Nov. All good

Friday 06/11 00:45 I received an order status of my pre-ordered item. ETA 20/11... say what?!?
Friday 06/11 Requested call back. Never received one. I called most of the day and eventually got through to someone after a 45 minute wait
I was told I pre ordered an item on Thursday. I explaied this was nonsence as I ordered at 2pm and selected Saturday 07/11 delivery. The item was not showing pre order when I purchased it and I had paid for Saturday delivery at cost
The next time I looked at 3pm it was sold out.
I requested a manager callback but no-one called me back

My PC is being sold on Tuesday so in the meantime have ordered a 3800XT for £330.
Competitor 2 will be receiving an call tomorrow of me fuming at them.

I highly expect if I had selected ASAP Friday delivery instead of Saturday this would not have happened. All the 5900X will have been picked for Friday delivery, leaving none left for Saturday delivery (i.e. my item) even though I paid £12.50 for the Saturday delivery. No, I'm not happy at paying £12.50 for delivery that takes over 2 weeks!

Could you imagine if Apple had the same issues as AMD and Nvidia? Everyone ordering millions of phones on launch day but getting this kind of services from stores. The company would cave over night

ocuk 5600X now £299.99

OCUK is interesting. I mean they are keeping pre-ordered open (at very high prices) where other retailers in aren't accepting pre-orders. However, the other retailers will also be getting new stock just as OCUK will.

What you are paying for with OCUK is a 'click and forget' service. Order now and it'll turn up in a few weeks. With the other (cheaper) retailers you need to F5 twice a day, or trust their email stick alerts etc. More work.

The downside with the OCUK approach is that they will experience higher demand and any given customer probably waits longer for their 'click and forget' than a customer who continues to monitor stock levels at half a dozen retailers.
