Is Everything Out of Stock?

Games controllers are in short supply everywhere it seems, only third party ones in decent supply, worth hunting them down now if you plan to buy any for Xmas.

Not just IT. At work we have been trying to get some high end kitchen appliances. No chance. Everywhere is quoting post 2020 as there are manufacturing and supply issues due to covid.

Try Howdens. They saw this coming and bought massive stocks. Apparently the problem is tempered glass! There is currently a worldwide shortage and its affecting the manufacture of many kitchen appliances.

Ah that makes sense as the Miele appliances all have glass fronts!

Its not even black friday yet, things is going to get much worse

Black Friday cancelled. Good, I never liked it anyway. Everyone puts their prices up in October so they can "slash them" to only a little higher than normal in November

Had my plastic fence arrive last week - 12 weeks wait.

It seems to be the same with a lot of stuff.

I'm currently waiting on an order of model parts that has been held up for nearly 3 months because some of the paints are out of stock (Spanish manufacturer), and for a few months there was virtually none of some of the commonly used ones as the manufacturer in the UK had shut down and many of the small stores only hold a very limited amount of stock.
It was even worse for the undercoats as they're usually spray cans with the result that IIRC RM can't ship them.

My recent orders (mouse mat, cycling clothing, car cleaning stuff, cigars) have all been quick and easy I'm happy to report. Sucks to be you :p

I did look at webcams on OcUK the other day and there was only one model in stock...

Clearly you havent been trying to buy stuff then, Lots of things which you could have normally got next day and had a big choice to buy from are now a couple of weeks to get minimum.

I suspect OCUK don't normally stock/sell many, and for a while they seemed to be like gold dust as back in January you could get them from about £15, by about May the only ones I could find in stock anywhere were £100+ third party sellers, or in the several hundred pound range.

It was annoying as I wanted one to let my dad skype my niece and sister easier*, and ended up putting it off until about July when I was able to get a basic one for just £50ish.
It seemed madness that for a while you could buy a smartphone or cheap tablet for less than a webcam,

*His eyes are are pretty bad so I wanted to set it up using the lounge computer as he can't see on a small screen.
