Looks lik AC Valhalla is una the same on the Series S and the One X. Like they use the same settings, run same framerate and same resolution

I'm seriously considering selling my Gaming laptop which has a 2080 Max P
I have a 55inch LG TV in the Livingroom with HDMI 2.1.
I have to game on the laptop upstairs out the way because the fan noise annoys my Wife.

So I'm thinking about getting the Series X for downstairs, ditching the Laptop & replacing it with the new M1 Macbook Air for internet ect.

I think this will be the end of my 20+ years PC gaming for me, as I've gone from having a Gaming Rig to a Gaming Laptop due to lack of space when i moved into this house 5 years ago, now I think the time is right with the latest consoles to ditch PC Gaming once & for all and enjoy gaming from the comfort of my sofa with both 4K & HDR on a 55" screen.

2 freezes so far on Gears Tactics. Can be annoying when a level takes a while. Hopefully some needed software updates soon.
Wonder if the tiny performance advantage at 4K and getting trashed by the PS5 in 120 FPS mode in Devil may cry is game related or drivers :)

Can you expand on dmc comment?

I've Installed Warzone, Cold War, FH4 & F1. Over 50% of HDD space gone already. Storage is the big issue this generation. I feel maybe we should have got 2TB as standard

If they weren't using high speed SSD tech they probably would have gone 2tb but 2tb in SSD tech there using would have just increased the cost far too much although I agree more space is needed

That'll be the next edition :p

I agree, the space fills quickly. Fortunately with fast USB connections they make a cheap external SSD viable for non-X enhanced games.

Yeah but to cover yourself do what I did and use the online chat for confirmation. At the beginning of the chat the advisor did say I had to buy the insurance at the same time as the product, but once I pointed out that term I highlighted in my first post the advisor read it himself and confirmed I could buy insurance after buying the product (as long as its been within 30 days). After that I just bought the insurance.

I noticed it only allows 1 console swap, so if you e.g. return in the first week with a manufacturing fault, the extended coverage is gone?

I think they went the right way I would rather pay £250 with 1/2tb of storage and option to increase in future vs say £300 or £350 with 1tb. Including more storage is basically enforcing people to pay for the upgrade on purchase of console.

People I think need to learn to use a spindle (or cheap external ssd) for cold storage of games, they need to learn that habit, on nvme storage it is a unreasonable expectation to be able to put your entire collection of games on there.

Part of the problem as well is dev's, duplication of assets, assets included that arent used (ff7 remake), inefficient compression techniques and so on. Also have any of the dev's took microsoft's advice and modulised their games? so e.g. on COD dont download multiplayer data if you only playing campaign.

Well, at 2TB you'd be looking at paying about £650 for the X and £450 for the S. If you add the extra 1TB expansion card, it comes to, wait for it, about £650 for the X and £450 for the S. So by your logic of requiring 2TB as standard, why don't you just fork over the extra £200 for the expansion and then you'll have 2TB?

Question

With my One X and Sonos Playbar I was able to get 5 1 from optical cable to TV and HDMI from TV to Xbox.

If appears the Xbox series x doesn't recognise it?

Working fine here. There were a few more options on the Xbox side then my original One had so make sure they are set correctly.

I have the 1tb expansion drive although in all honesty it’s not really needed. A decent Sata usb ssd will work great for non X games. Saying that it’s fun copying games from internal to the 1tb expansion it’s stupidly quick......

I'm really enjoying Gears 4. Desperate to finish it to get onto Gears 5. Its filling the hole in my life that is the absence of AC :p (at this rate I'll just pick up the digital version and will return the physical disk when it arrives).

I can imagine it is. Its pretty crazy over the USB to external SSD to be honest.

It's certainly a night and day difference from a mechanical to SSD's of this speed. Had a few seconds to wait before anyone else joined my games in Rocket League last night. It's almost instant between menu and pitch.

Plugged in a random external drive to try out the backup option, just a 2.5" usb 3 5400 rpm jobbie. Moved all the xbox 360 games over to that, seemed fine and moved reasonably quickly.

Dont think you really need expensive SSDs/M2's for external storage.
